Hey all. I wanted to ask about this in the shout-box... but nobody was around. Anyway, I was wondering jus' exactly how the handball works. Yesterday, I was playing with my mates, and someone blasted the ball at my chest (it was virtually shot at me point blank!). Instinctively, I covered my torso with my arms and hands. The guy who shot it called for handball, but we played on, arguing that I was jus' protecting myself, not sticking my arms out... Were we right?
It really just depends on the ref and how he sees it. Some will call that protecting yourself but some will call it a definite free kick. I'm not sure if it really is a free kick or not, but IMO it just depends on the ref.
well i reckon if youre protectiong yourself it shouldnt be a foul.. also if youre not playing at the ball it shouldnt be a free kick.. imo it should only be a ful if youre playing at the ball
If it's protection or there was absolutely no way of moving your hand away from the ball then it's ball-to-hand. Un less it moves the ball to drastically then it's handball IMO
The general rule is, if it's 'ball to hand' and not 'hand to ball' you should escape being penalised. How the ref interprets the same is a different story altogether. I would say in your case though Riano, that you were right to play on.
Thanks, Diamond Dust... I thought so, too. That forward jus' wanted a penalty kick... he's a bit of a glory seeker. More than half of the HFC is...

Also you should always play on until the referee makes a call.

lmao thats like on fifa 06 you kick it into them from close range nd it hits them and you get a free kick.. good times..
