Voted player of the year by his fellow professionals and by football writers, the 22-year-old Portugal winger is our man of the season as well
    2 F Lampard Chelsea M 97.31% 16.24
An ordinary season for Lampard? The statistics say otherwise
    3 Gilberto Arsenal M 88.14% 16.01 P
Ten league goals was a remarkable return for the midfield man
    4 Cech Chelsea G 50.15% 14.41
Chelsea missed their ?keeper desperately when he was injured
    5 J Lehmann Arsenal G 97.30% 13.94
He may be 37 but the German is still among the league?s elite
    6 P Scholes Man Utd M 79.10% 13.50
Enjoyed spectacular return to form after last season?s eye injury
    7 T Howard Everton G 94.59% 12.96

    8 N Vidic Man Utd D 66.11% 10.48
The centre back was rock-solid in his first full season in England
    9 B McCarthy Blackburn F 88.98% 9.91

Not as flashy as some of his teammates, but highly effective

This should put an end to the Lampard hating-group. [IMG]

Some unexpected players in there, Hleb and Howard as well as Gilberto, but they're definitely good. I rate Hleb, he's a good player but does get overshadowed by his teammates such as Fabregas and Henry especially. Benni McCarthy is obviously class and if he moves to a bigger club he will shine even more. These top 10 players by effectiveness are definitely some of the best players in the league.

Hopefully Dan doesnt think C.Ronaldo isnt overrated anymore [IMG]

Hleb, Howard, Lehman, Gilberto are all surprises. Man Utds best players this season are there.

No arguments? Excuse me but, Reina is better than Howard. Gerrard is better then Lampard. Drogba is better than McCarthy. So yeah, this is all wrong mate. Sorry to break it to to yeh!

But you don't understand, this top 10 player list has been made by counting up the passes/tackles/shots etc. that are effective to ineffective ones, so, for example, Benni McCarthy must have a better goals-to-shots ratio than Drogba, even though Drogba has more goals than him.

Do this include their work-rate? Strength? Pace? Dedication? Passion? You can't base a footballer of just facts. Sorry.

Mate, I never said I agreed with this, statistics don't make the best players. Players who are smart and do the 1-percenters as well as the big plays, score goals, set up their teammates and play well in defense, the ones who really want to do well are the better ones. But then again, the statistics can show that they're class, that they have the skill and play well, even if they're not actually that brilliant.

No John Terry? Challenging Vidic for the best centre back this season.

If you look at MOTD's players of the season based on stats they're normally right.

How on earth did Hleb get in there? The rest of the list looks pretty good. Im surprised Lampard was that highly rated.

They rate the players by stats, not how gd they are. Stats aren't always everything, but thats how the list goes I guess

its not a list sayiong how good players are, its a list saying how good players have played, its never said anything about these being the best players. These stats just show that howard has played so well this season
