<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Real Madrid are keen to persuade David Beckham to ditch his plans to join LA Galaxy and remain at the Bernabeu. England midfielder Beckham, 32, is due to join the MLS club when his Real contract expires at the end of June. Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has hinted there is a clause in the England midfielder's contract which could allow them to keep him. But a spokesman for Beckham insisted there was "no intention" of not going through with the LA Galaxy move. The spokesman added: "David is looking forward to going to LA - but he wants to end his career at Real Madrid on a high note first, by winning the league." And LA Galaxy general manager Alexi Lalas told BBC Five Live: "Nothing has changed. We can't wait for Beckham to get here and we hope he is coming off the back of a La Liga Championship. "He is excited about coming here and he is ready for the challenge and the adventure. "Calderon's comment about Real keeping Beckham is benign. As far as that is concerned, that ship has sailed." Calderon was reported by Marca newspaper as saying: " "We need to sit down with Beckham, his representatives and with (Real sporting director Predrag) Mijatovic, look at this clause, and decide between us. "But for me I would be delighted if he remained at the club." Real reacted sharply to Beckham's rejection of their contract offer in January. Coach Fabio Capello said Beckham would never play for the first-team again. Calderon was even more scathing, branding Beckham: "an average cinema actor living in Hollywood," comments which prompted Real's players to throw their backing behind the England midfielder. The Real president also claimed: "The proof our technical team was right in not considering his continuity has been ratified as nobody wanted him." But Beckham's attitude impressed Capello enough to win back his first-team place. The England midfielder has been inspirational as Real have put themselves in pole position to win the Spanish title. In the meantime, Beckham has also won back his place in the England team, after his international career appeared to have ended following England's exit from last year's World Cup. Having chastised Beckham for his decision in January, Calderon is reportedly extending an olive branch to the England midfielder. The Real president said: "There was a bit of anger by the premature announcement of his exit, but we are now going to make an effort for him to stay. "I would be delighted if he remained at the club." </div> Source: BBC SPORT | Football | Europe | Real chief wants Beckham to stay Yours thoughts on this? There is now way Beckham will stay in my mind. He wants to leave.
I'm pretty sure it's a done deal. Espicially if victoria is still around. He never should have gone to America. Should have come back to the premiership
America was a bad move for Beckham for but Real reacted too slowly to keep him. He should have come back to Man U.
I think this is just another case of "brand Beckham" going into overdrive again. He's undoubtedly been a good player in the past BUT he's past it now. He did ok for England but just that ok, its the media bullshit that praises every kick. The only reason Madrid would want him to stay is to sell shirts and thats it, but i don't believe a word about them wanting him to stay.
