I see our Celtic fanatic has missed this thread then. So are we all agreed that it's not Celtics song?

You only need to ask any football fan from another country which club is famous for YNWA and i think we all know the answer. Its just other clubs trying to get a bit of glory by saying they may be associated with the famous Kop.

<div class="quote_poster">bringiton Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">We know lots of fans have sung it BUT its the Liverpool fans and the Anfield Kop which are the most famous in the world.I'll completely ignore your title about United singing it 1st for the stupidity it is. Imitation is the highest form of flattery.
Yor last sentence couldn't be more contradictory if it tried. Its nobodys but original, its passionate but mediocre, how on earth does that happen.
Newcatle fans are famed for their loyalty(much of it by themselves i might add) but what song can you say is identified with Newcastle? The Newcastle crowd seem to sing about themselves and not the team and it makes them sound stupid, Oh eye bonnie lad we sang a crackin song to oorselves today' so ame gaan hoom to i a wank.</div>

First off Man Utd did sang it first and you can't hide that FACT.

Nobody owns it but its origional. With a single ounce of common sense, you would realise what was meant by this simple comment. Like "we're by far the greatest team the world has blah blah blah...", nobody can call it their own yet about 18/20 prem league teams sing it, Liverpool being one of these.

Passionate song - mediocre. It is a passionate song, everybody knows that, but Liverpool fans go on about it like it brings the dead back to life. That my friend, is mediocre. Rush is God? Exactly what I mean and the worse thing of all, your whole support say it, not just stupid immature little kids.

In response to your other idiotic comment - Blaydon races. Yes, we have our own song + more. How would you know we only sing about ourselves? You don't! Simple as that. Your clutching at straws trying to make us sound bad.

Your home atmosphere is said to be one of the best in brittain but im sorry to say thats only for cup games, and even that is spurred on by the media. Once again - totally mediocre just like England fans. Your home support for league games rivals the worse I seen last season. Only West Ham, Man Utd and chelsea's home support is as bad. There was more of an atmosphere in the pub!

Just wait 'til your stadium expands!

Next time, don't reply on a whim - reply with common sense with an unbiased view.

P.S On the way to liverpool away last season, there were liverpool fans at the service station, also going to the match.

Man united sang it 1st, don't make me fucking laugh. I've heard the claims but they have no foundation whatsoever.
Yes lots of teams do sing the same songs ,but why does that make YNWA mediocre?
Blaydon races, who knows the words to that famous song. Go and ask a Milan fans who sings that "famous" song. I'll bet the blank expressions are funny as fuck.
Ok the atmosphere isn,t always the best at Anfield but its still better than most other places on a poor day.
How do i know you sing about yourselves? I've been to SJP a few times even had a gang of 30 of your neanderthals twatting 5 of us when Mirandinho was playing for you. I've heard you numerous times at Anfield and the consensus is your fans sound thick as fuck singing self fornicating songs.
The p.s. bit what are you trying to imply there? Is it that Liverpool fans travel from afar? If thats the case where has all your support suddenly appeared from? Where was all these fans before Keegan turned up? When you famously "bottled it" in the 90s ,i was talking to some Newcastle fans in The Arkles pub from Bristol.

Once again, it is a fact Man Utd sang it first, stop tying to hide it. Seombody asked why the commentator didnt question them singing it in the video. Wakey wakey - that's why!

Why YNWA is mediocre was answered in my previous post. Idiot.

You didn't ask what famous song we sang? You asked what song can we truely call ours and I answered it. Even though it was a totally pointless comment, if you ask people in Milan who sings it they wouldn't know. If you sang the tune, they probably would. Afterall, we did take 15,000 over there for a group stage game.

An a poor day anfield is not better than MOST, its better than a minority.

If the consensus is bad, why do we have one of the best fan bases in the world? We were also voted nicest fans to visit Cardiff in the time the FA cup games were played there. You weren't.

That time before Keegan came was a short period of our history. Before that and for a short time after that, you couldn't get a season Ticket unless somebody died. What has changed since then? Nothing, we have still won nowt, yet we get 52k every week - more than you.

Th 'p.s' bit was aimed at your glory seeking fans.

Your probably (definately) thinking that i'm going on about how good our support is. Where in this post have I said we are good supporters? You come to that conclusion yourself based the array of facts. You have also by now come to the conclusion that I dislike Liverpool. Where did you get that idea? In that uneducated brain of yours, thats where! I like liverpool a LOT more than Man Utd and most other teams. I'm just giving you the facts - something you don't like.

The video of the United game is from the 80s, Liverpool were singing it a little before then. United did NOT sing it 1st that is a complete no brainer. I remember reading the so called fact myself, it was from a woman who said she sang it on the Stretford end after the Munich disaster. This same woman also said that people looked at her strangely and she sang it all the way through on her own as she was singing it in an "operatic" style voice. One person out of about 60k is hardly starting a song now is it. I have shouted at a match something what nobody else has said, does this make me a trendsetter and if it catches on somewhere else then Liverpool fans in general can claim to have started it?

The song you claim is truly yours. Now Man United also sing a version of that so how can you say that you started it 1st?
As for you having a bigger crowd than us, well yes maybe but only for the time being. There are over 50k on the season ticket waiting list at Anfield and they have over 100k in the Priority Ticket Scheme so when we move to our new stadium thats that argument gone.
You call us Glory Hunters. During the 90s we had very little to shout about granted more than Newcastle but still not much but the crowds still came.
As for being the nicest fans at Cardiff, well its not that often you get the chance to visit places like that for cup finals so you are bound to come across as nice as you was probably all in shock.
I don't dislike Newcastle fans i haven't said that, i just said that they sing about themselves. Just because you prefer us to Man United does that make any difference. I prefer you lot than Everton doesn't make me a fan of yours.
If YNWA is mediocre ask the numerous amounts of foreign fans what they remember about their visit to Anfield and i'll bet i know what one of their answers will be. Just go on to You Tube and have a look at numerous Barca fans filming it and raving about it.
So you go sing about Geordies to the world and see if people are interested.

You'll Never Walk Alone is our song! - News - Manchester Evening News

The evidence is mounting. I've also read that the 1957 version of YNWA was a big hit in the Glasgow music halls. Another quite embarressing thing I've read is that in the 60's (when you started singing it), you also sang other pop songs including 1 by Cilla Black. What an anthem that would have been.

And if you know your history...

Rogers and Hammerstein wrote the song YNWA which featured in the musical Carousel. Gerry and the Pacemakers brought it out in 1962 ish. So what that silly woman says without any proof or anyone else to back it up, is that thousands of people knew the words to that song BEFORE it got in the charts for popular music. So therefore before video recorders were a twinkle in the eyes of John Logie Baird thousands of United fans knew the song word for word. In 1957 televisions weren't even that numerous for them to see Carousel "the Movie". So it looks like another person and set of supporters clinging to the back of the most famous song in football, made famous by Liverpool fans.
So if you do actually know your history as you seem to profess you will realise that this woman has probably just escaped from the local lunatic asylum.

Of course you have right to your own opinions, no matter how blatantly they fly in the face of logic, reality and the stone cold facts. The only person your kidding is yourself and any other deluded people who are to blind to see the truth.

I was watching an FA Cup final from the 70s yesterday where the Manchester United fans were singing YNWA. It was against Southampton and Southampton won right at the end.

I'm a newish fan(started following in the last 5 years) from the USA so I was surprised to hear this because I've always associated the song with Liverpool and Celtic. I'm almost positive I heard them singing it during another FA Cup final against Brighton.

Anyway, I stumbled onto this forum while searching the net trying to find something about United fans actually singing YNWA. Hi! [IMG]
