After quite some time, 2 college players are getting ready for prime time. I'd be anxious to hear your thoughts. As for me, Clarett's a joke and Henson is a bit rusty but will be a good one. Like the anchor on Sportscenter said last night; the NFL, sadly, is becoming like the NBA. Mort and the rest of the experts said even those who enter the NFL after 3 or 4 yrs in College have a hard time adjusting, So...
I dont think Clarett can even survive a season at this point...the guy is fast, but his body is not developed and he couldnt take the big 10 pounding, so I doubt he can take the NFL pounding....If you draft a back in the 1st or 2nd, he must be a complete back and Clarrett is not, others have to make it on special teams 1st and I dont think Clarett is ready for that either...
henson is going to be good in all likelyhood, but i think clarett is on his way to most overrated player entering draft
Maurice clarrett problem is a few things. 1. he is not in football shape, it has been over a year since he last played football. 2. his freshman year at ohio st he could not stay healthy, something nfl scouts mark you down on. 3. clarrett tho he has power and elussiveness, he isnt fast at all for nfl rb. Last all the nfl players are pissed that some young kid is pretty much trying to get a pay day in then nfl with some of the best players im the game, and they are taking it personal. Arrington, lewis, manning have all voiced there opinons on clarrett ruling, and they dont like what the kid is pulling. According to the article on cbssportsline. Alot of them dont wanna see him or any player from college to overcome the nfl rule, they all had to follow themselfs. They take it as a slap in the face.
manning actual exercised the rule to get an extra year of college play after he had graduated(he did that in 3 years) so he had a shot at title, and heisman. he of course finished one loss shy of an undefeated season, and woodson stole his heisman in the parking lot, at least thats what i figure, i mean, there is no way people would have voted that way.
If Im scouting 2 players who are equal on all fronts or atleast close and 1 has a college degree and the other doesnt, Im drafting the guy with the degree, atleast I know hes willing to finish what he starts
