Alexander the Great... Conquered so much land at the time and had a huge Empire, was a great leader, he even managed to get across the Sahara Desert.

    I agree.

He was an amazing motivator. To motivate a people to almost totally unite behind a single cause like he did is no walk in the park. Obviously, some aspects weren't all his doing. People like Goebbles and Rommel were very instrumental in the rise of the Nazi party on their respective fronts but overall, none of it would have happened without Hitler. Listening to audio of the Nuremburg rally and other big speeches of his, you can tell how much passion is in his voice and how much he believed in his actions, even without understanding German, and how much of that spirit he managed to instill in his subjects, no matter how barbaric and evil the cause.

He was stark raving mad in private though. Very confused in his sexuality, allegedly, and also a staunch vegan. Also quite amusing how he lauded the "master-race" of hard-working Aryan being with blonde hair and blue eyes, when he was skinny, shorter-than-average and with brown hair and brown eyes.

Hitler was full of Charisma and Charm and could persuade anyone, He was also very good at using the Carrot and the stick method on the German people.

My great leader will probably be someone really inspirational prepared to do anything to make his country better. So in that respect it's probably Nelson Mandela

hitler was a great leader.. he may have done some bad things but you cant say that jonny howard, george bush and tony blair havent done anything bad in their time as leader for their country.. anyway back to hitler.. he was just trying to do what was best for his country.. and thats just like bush when he sent the troops over to the middle east.. and i think nearly EVERYNE will agree that he also had the greatest moustache in the history of the tashes.. other than boony.. and maybe ian botham

I think what they mean is that he wasn't their idol or anything but he had the right ideas (some e.g. Genocide were disgusting) and if the UK and the USA didn't step in Germany would control pretty much all of Europe right now.

[IMG] That's just a bit random.

I studied Hitler last year at school and if he didn't end up killing all the Jews and everything else, he could be considered a good leader but that was always going to happen because ever since he was a child he'd hated them and because of his childhood and younger years, he was never going to turn out that great.

I think the reason Hitler hated the Jews was because his mother had a Jewish Doctor towards the end of her life and he did something wrong and she got severely ill and died as a result of the doctors mistake, Something along those lines

    Augustus was a great leader.

without him and julius caesar, there wouldnt have been a roman empire and the world would probably be hundreds of years behind.

and as wolf said alexander too.
