<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">DAVID Beckham is heading to Sydney after the football star's US team signed a deal last night to play against Sydney FC in November.

The match at Telstra Stadium, certain to be a sell-out, will be the centrepiece of a visit to Sydney by the world's most famous footballer's new club, LA Galaxy, and the Beckham entourage.

Beckham's wife, Victoria - aka Posh Spice - may also visit, but it was unclear last night whether she would have time in the lead-up to the Spice Girls' tour early next year.

Stringent security concerns mean Beckham's precise itinerary remains a secret, but the 40-strong Galaxy party will be in Sydney for several days. At least one public appearance has been scheduled.

The deal negotiated by Football Federation Australia is entirely contingent on Beckham travelling with the Galaxy team to Australia and playing against Sydney FC on November 27 in what will be a massive showcase for the game in Australia. </div>

    Continues here.

That's definitely going to be a great event for the A-League but they could have chosen Melbourne Victory and the MCG! Definitely would have been better than Sydney and Telstra Stadium, but it'll be a great match and as the article says, hopefully Beckham will travel and play in the match.

On a side note, has he ever played in Australia before? I doubt that he has.

They should play the Victory. Way more people would turn up and itll be a better Quality match.

Now that Beckham as gone to America and football over there is of very little importance over there. Could we please shut the f**k up about him and let the overrated ponce disappear and take that ugly posing sticky out mouthed scrawny bird with him!

Whats the odds that he won't play in Oz due to injury or something?

They said yesterday when I watched this story on the news that contingency plans were written into the contract, which means that if David Beckham is injured the match will definitely be rescheduled for a later date, because of course he is the only reason why someone would want LA Galaxy to come here and play a friendly match.

Yes lol of course he is. The reason they scheduled it is so that David Beckham can play here in Australia, so that Sydney can get on the map because they're expecting a lot of people to follow how Becks does for the Galaxy. And if he's injured, they don't want to bother versing LA Galaxy without him, so they're going to reschedule it if he is unable to play.
