Now before you all start and say jealous scouser think about this? Man United last season announced debts of over ?900m. Now with this spending spree this debt is now close to ?1 billion!!! Does anyone not think that this is very reckless and putting the life of a great club(it killed me saying that bit) in serious danger. The Glazers were reportedly trying to find buyers for the club a couple of months ago. It looks more and more like a Leeds downfall waiting to happen. You have to ask where this money is coming from. They put the club ?200m futher in debt last year by re-financing because they was struggling with the payments. Now if any club lives beyond their means they are now docked points by the FA and this needs to be looked at. The followers of FC United of Manchester warned that this would happen. This wasn't just an Anti-american or Glazer stance by these people, some of these fans that switched did so because of SERIOUS worries about the Glazer deal. Its ok you saying it will never happen to us ,we are too big. It can. Like I say, don't just say i'm a jealous scouser, actually think about it and ask yourself, how are they going to pay for this new influx of players. They've bought Hargreaves who if anyones honest with themselves will admit they overpaid. Nani and Anderson are extremely dear, young and unproven players who may not be able to handle the EPL (just the same as Torres before you say anything) and Tevez, who granted as been a success at West Ham but he may not fit in at OT. So, watch this space!
Yeah I see your point bringiton... but if Glazer has told SAF that he can clear the debt then I dont see the problem in spending the money but only if he can clear the debt.
Yes but how is he going to clear the debt? By re-financing again going further into it. I would be worried if it was my club.
It's not looking good for the club and as much as people want to see Manchester United fall like Leeds, it'd be much worse than when Leeds did because they hadn't been such title contenders as Man Utd. If Middlesbrough ever went into such debt (unlikely) I'd be very concerned especially since we're only a small club financially compared to Man Utd, but even for them it's a lot to make up.
Well I personally cannot see it happening, but never say never. They will probably raise ticket prices to cover the costs.
Its a worrying thought, but with Anderson (Brazil), Nani(Portugal) and Tevez (Argentina) the advertising markets can spread through south america and europe from the new signing. Our advertising is becomming big, through Asia and Europe we are dominant through big names such as Rooney, Ronaldo and Park(Asia) With Tevez and Anderson, it opens the door to a south american market which can bring in some more cash for us. I have complete confidence in the Glazers, and David Gill will know when things are getting serious for the club, I have high confidence in David Gill and the Glazers and hopefully the spending can hault for a good while.
You have a very good point there. To be honest I dont want to see them turn into leeds (it hurts to say that) because there a great club and they're pretty much the face of English and European Football around the world.
Evans, respect the threads of fellow members of dyc, if your not happy with something then argue a VALID point instead of saying the thread is bullshit. Talk it out in a mature manor and stop acting like a 12yr old.
<div class="quote_poster">SuperMattyTaylor Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Yeah - this is the first time ive heard of it, so can't be that big a deal. </div> The thing is it is a big deal in the north west. We get the news from th Fc United banded about. Man Ure are doing a very good job of keeping it low. But think about it like i say. All the figures don't add up. I would be very worried.

For a club with such massive debt, I think the timing of these signings is strange. They've just won the league and I know its always good to strengthen, but does anyone else thinks the prices were excessive? There is a touch of the Peter Ridsdales about it.
This is MANCHESTER UNITED - THE FACE OF ENGLISH FOOTBALL! THERE IS SO MUCH MONEY FLOATING ABOUT I CANT SEE IT BEING A BIG PROBLEM.
Well if its true or now we will find out over the years, these things take years not days to happen, but the future looks bright! new stadium, new players and no mancs
