I'm going to do more of these TalkPoint series in the coming weeks, first off lets discuss William Gallas' recent interview on Arsenals lack of "Big Name" signing to replace Thierry.

Recently William Gallas has came out on the offensive side and openly criticised Arsenals way of "over relying" on youngsters to get them victories. After the departure of Thierry Henry, one of the best strikers the Premiership has come across, Arsenal havn't captured the headlines of the back pages because of Big Name signings.

Gallas has taken notice of the talent being recruited to the likes of Liverpool and Man United through Torres and the 3 new additions to Uniteds squad. Gallas is now demanding crunch talks with Wenger and the Arsenal board to find out why there has been no replacement for thier former Talisman Henry.

Another thing that could add fuel to the fire is that Arsenal are being linked with a France Under-21 International and the departure of veteran Freddi Ljunberg.

So what does everyone think? Are Arsenal content with their current squad or is Gallas right in what he's saying that Arsenal are relying too much on the youth?

I feel Gallas is correct although I heard the Gunners are in talks with O. Martins but I dont know whether its true... Also I think Wenger might be trying to do an SAF of 99 when he won the Premiership with the average squad age of 24 or something but they still have a lot to do if they want to achieve this.

Obafemi Martins isn't exactly the ideal replacement for Thierry, he wouldnt bring the presence that Henry brought to the squad. And if Wenger wants to even dream about emulating our 1999 squad, he really needs to take a dose of reality because it will never happen. Gallas is 100% correct in what he's saying and Wenger and the Board need to listen to him because they are too involved with signing youngsters that arnt bringing anything to Arsenal for the now.

I know comparing Martins to Henry is a huge miss but all im saying is Martins is capable of scoring goals and playing well.. Im not saying he is going to rip up the Premiership like Henry did.

Arsenal need investment and fast. The money isn't there because they're paying for the stadium. Ok its bringing extra revenue in ,but its being eaten up straight away and leaving no money left to buy players. I said a while ago that it looked like Arsenal were gonna get left behind. Its ok to say that these kids are brilliant and in a few years we'll have a good team but football is a fickle sport and you can soon get left behind and playing in a big white elephant of a stadium. It only takes a couple of the "better" players to leave and then your back to square 1 again.
Although i may be one of the few who thought that it was a good move to let Henry go because at the age of 30, £16m is a fantastic price because he isn't going to get better, only worse and slower,it is a mistake not to replace him with a big character.
So Arsenal fans ,I myself think that this year you are going to lose out on that 4th place to your neighbours this season.

Arsenal need to stop buying youngsters and get players in their prime.

Crisis Stage????, not really. But if we get some expirienced players to show the youngsters, then well do very good.

I think crisis stage is exaggerating... They still play beautiful football in patches and if they can pull a big name in to replace Henry they will contest for the title. I am certain they will make the top 4.

all you need is a descent anough manager to bring the youngones together. but when you have older and more experienced players, the younger and less experienced usually feed off the olders. its going to be difficult for arsenal without henry.

Okay, so maybe this youngster buying doesn't sound good for the "now" stage, but turn around and look at us in 3 or 4 years time. Teams aren't going to expect as much from Arsenal next season, and thats where they will slip up, and lose.

You dont quite get the grasp that in 3-4 seasons (IF)while you will still have your youngsters, teams all around you will be signing stronger players making them stronger and making Arsenal start back at point 1 again.

Youngsters are important...they give a lot of energy and since they are young they have nothing to lose and they give it they're all, but experienced players are also important, they can calm things down when things get out of hand and they can read the game better. So Wenger needs to find the right balance between young and old. Look at Manchester United for example, they have wonderful kids like Ronaldo, Rooney, Nani and Anderson but they have experienced players like G.Neville, Scholes, Giggs and v.der Sar. They've also got players in they're prime like Vidic and Ferdinand. So balance is very important ingredient to a team. Thats y Manu were successful last season
