I think Liverpool and Rafa Benitez are really sending a messege out to the rest of the premiership that Liverpool mean business this season. Fernando Torres - is absolutely world class brilliant signing in my eyes Yossi Benayoun - really rated him at West Ham superb signing And looking likely wonder kid Ryan Babel ?11.5m deal to join Liverpool on Friday snatched from arsenal. I am so excited about the new season can't wait for it to start. I hope to see a couple more signings preferable a world class centre back and then i think we will be there or there abouts next season. Any Views?
Every year I hear the same thing, Liverpool are going to mount a serious challenge, yet every year they disappoint. Torres being world class is another reason why Liverpool have so much high expectations, he's not an out an out goal scorer and you will realise this come the end of the season and wonder why you wasted your money. Benayoun is another reason why Rafa is a joke in the transfer market, being linked with Quaresma you should of swooped for him and babel and you would of had 2 great wingers at your helm. Until Liverpool improve their league performances they will never threaten Chelsea or United. So with your question, I answer: No.
I don't think Liverpool will be able to maintain the consistancy to put up a major challenge for the title. They don't really have the lineup to do it either comparing to Chelsea or Man U.
Does anyone on this site know what the word hypocritical means? Just a while ago when Torres was linked to other clubs at may I say for more than Liverpool paid for him, he was the best thing since sliced bread. He was going to United for £26m it was wanking all round. He was linked to Chelsea "what a player" he was linked to Arsenal "that Arsene knows his stuff". He's signs for Liverpool "he's a waste of money". DICKHEADS. If you want to talk about joke in the transfer market, can someone tell me why a certain manager paid £28.5m for the biggest flop EVER and EVER in the whole world? Also he has definitely overpaid again for the 2 no marks he has just bought. This is why he said "I expected the transfer market to be a lot busier, thats why we moved so quickly" ????? what for players that nobody else was at all interested in? I think this comment of he's translates to PANIC buys. I won't get dragged into a fight with an Arsenal fan because players are now telling them lies and then signing for Liverpool. Chelsea fans will soon dissappear at the rate they appeared so no point bothering with them either.
I think Liverpool can challenge for the title if they get a good run of wins with not many draws a few weeks into the season for a few months at least because then they'll have confidence to keep going and not get inconsistent.
I have never said Torres would be a brilliant buy for United so you can jibe at everyone else. The reason I will never think Liverpool can mount a challenge is because they are an inconsistent team when playing in England. They are a good european side but when it comes to beating English teams they seem to just fall apart.
When I was on holiday last year I met a scouser and he told me "yer mate Liverpooool are gonna win the title, chelsee ave no chanuce" I thought to myself well I dont think so and its seems this year again the fans think they will challenge for the title and my thoughts again... I dont think so, maybe third, about 8 points behind chelsea and 14 behind United, but I dont think Liverpool will win the league.

Saha is, in my eyes, a fringe player who gives nothing to the team. Smith will never be the player he was at Leeds and I can see him leaving if he doesn't feature in more games. Hopefully Fergie pulls out all the stops and signs one of these two great strikers
Yeah, I wrote that when I heard rumours about Torres, i'll admit that, but after seeing his record I regret saying it.

Also, Yossi Benayoun or however you spell it, He's really good isn't he *Max's Sarcasm level went up to 4536* I'm really getting good at that now

Mmmmmmmmmmm let me think about that one. Don't know why but i've got this nagging feeling in my head that you've changed your mind because he's signed for a certain team! As for Max calling Benayoun, laugh all you want pal, but i remember everyone laughing at a Mr P Crouch and look at him now. Possibly doubled in value and can do something none of the current Arsenal team can do. Score goals.
Umm duno BUT if we can get off to a good start and start beating Manure,Chelski then yes we do have a chance, i'd like to think this season but no not really can see us getting closer tho maybe 8 points behind Manure, lookin forward to the coming season!
three good signings who have made the squad that bit stronger, but its one thing having a strong squad, and another being able to win the league. I dont see it myself, top 4 again. kero
