<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Steve Bruce is surprised he has been able to agree an immediate permanent deal to bring Mido to Birmingham City. The Egyptian striker was expected to join on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur, with a view to a permanent switch next summer. But Spurs accepted a ?6million offer from Blues on Friday, with Bruce happy to be able to add Mido to his squad on a long-term basis. "We've been chasing him for a while and we started off negotiating a loan," Bruce told the Birmingham Mail. "Then I was told we could buy Mido and (Hossam) Ghaly too. It was a bit of a surprise. "To be fair to our board they have realised, as well as I have, that you have got to be competitive in this current market, so we've gone out and made a big investment. "Mido's a top, top player and quite a character. He's of the right age - 24 - and I think the Birmingham fans will love him. "Mido's got a bit of everything in his game. He's strong and powerful, good in the air, and he can play a bit too let me tell you. I'm absolutely delighted." </div> Spurs must be laughing their socks off, ?6m for a 4th choice striker who hasn't performed terribly well. Can't see him doing much better there either, he'll recieve poorer service from midfield
He was alright but when he went away from Tottenham and came back he lost his way a bit. He'll get better as he grows as a player even if it is at Brum
Mido is a decent striker but just couldnt cut it at Spurs. He'll get his chance at Birmingham though and he will bag a few goals for them. Good signing from Steve.
