    From BBC:

Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes could miss the start of the season after it was revealed he needs a scan on a knee injury.
Scholes, 32, injured his knee in a friendly against Chinese side Shenzhen.

"We've sent him home for scope to see what kind of damage there is," said United manager Alex Ferguson.

"We've had scans done and there's a bit of discolourment about the cartilage. We don't think it's serious - he'll be out for three weeks to a month."

it will definetly be a big blow for united but we still have hargreaves, carrick and anderson. jhopefully it won't be to long becuase scholes is more of an attacking midfielder where as hargreaves and carrick aren't.
