"Hopefully I can help the manager, the players and everyone get out of this division. "I just want to play football, that's basically it." Chairman Peter Ridsdale believes Fowler's signature demonstrates their ambition and has galvanised the squad following a disappointing second half of last season. "It's a major signing for this football club," said Ridsdale. "It demonstrates our ambition is to take this team from the Championship to the Premiership. "This summer we've managed to bring in six new signings, all of whom have strengthened the squad. We're going to go into the new season with renewed optimism. "From a personal point of view I'm absolutely delighted I can reacquaint my football career with one of the best strikers this country has ever even. "To be able to sign Robbie without have to write big cheques is very, very satisfying. I'm delighted that Robbie felt that this was the right place to play for the next few years." Bluebirds boss Dave Jones has hailed the signing of Fowler as a 'major coup' and thinks the striker is just what they need to secure promotion. "It's a fantastic coup for Cardiff City. I'm really pleased. It's given the whole city a massive, massive lift," Jones stated. "For a club like Cardiff now to be attracting the players like we have done means we're a growing club, a very ambitious one. "I'm just pleased Robbie decided to join this football club and hopefully take us all where we want to go." Jones has been quick to quash talk that Fowler could be set for a job in the club's backroom staff, stating the striker will only be concentrating on his football. "Robbie's here merely to play football. Here's coming here to work his socks off," continued Jones. Nah i dont think they'll get the promotion either. Once signing (a good one i might add) isnt gonna make much difference. Good luck to Fowler and Cardiff i hope they do well.
They've probably got a bit of a chance to win promotion and Fowler might lift the team a bit but hopefully he can score too. Good signing for Cardiff and good move for Fowler.
