Lassana Diarra, Chelsea's tough-tackling midfielder, is set to join Arsenal in a ?2million deal this week.

The 22-year-old Frenchman is entering the last year of his contract at Stamford Bridge and has made it clear he doesn't see his long-term future with the Blues.

So Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will move to recruit a youngster who collected 10 yellow cards in 21 games last season.

Chelsea never lost a competitive match last season when Diarra, an aggressive ball-winner who can also play at right-back, was in their line-up.

Jesus Christ is Peter-Hill Wood really sitting back and watching this utter crapfest develop for Arsenal in the transfer market? If Arsenal want to have ANY chance at all to compete for a top 4 spot then why are they buying no brainers like Lassana Diarra?

Bit pointless seeming as he is a very similar player to Flamini. Gilberto Silva, Fabregas, Flamini, Rosicky, Denilson and Diaby all central midfielders. I don't think he's going to get much of a look in.

He's fairly good and versatile playing a bit of right back for the blues last season. I wouldn't be devistated to see him go but he is not what Arsenal are after. If he went to smaller type club he would impress.

He's not bad and he's like Salomon Kalou, young and good but can get a lot better. He'd be an alright signing but I don't think he'd get into the first XI for a while.

Arsenal need a good quality striker who has already proved his worth to replace Henry. If Wenger keeps going on like this its gonna be trouble for Arsenal.

I will have to disagree. Being the stubborn fan that I am. Seriously, the skill level of Adebayour and Van Persie are probably higher than most team except Man. United, Liverpool, and Chelsea. (In my opinion of course)

ARSENAL are ready to test Chelsea’s resolve by offering £5million for midfielder Lassana Diarra.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho is determined not to sell the French Under-21 international to one of Chelsea’s title rivals. But their efforts to attract a counter offer from another club have failed.

And they dare not run the risk of losing Diarra as a free agent when his contract expires next summer.

Portsmouth, Fulham, Reading and Middlesbrough have all been alerted to the 22-year-old’s availability but have not registered a bid.

He was also offered to Lyon as part of the Florent Malouda deal, a proposal which was instantly rejected by the French champions.

But Arsene Wenger believes the strong-willed youngster would be a useful addition to his squad. And he knows Diarra is keen to make the switch.

Diarra was earmarked to become Claude Makelele’s eventual successor in the holding midfield role when Chelsea signed him from Le Havre for £2.6m in 2005.

But he has become fed up waiting for a regular place in the team.

I think the skill level of tottenhams stikers is much better than urs. Id take Bent Keane Berbatov and Defoe any day over Adebayour VP and who ever else the Gooners have.
