Why do so many people take pre season tournaments so serious? Up there is Arsenal fans raving about the Emirates cup when its not worth a sausage. Pre season is mainly about fitness and the results aren't that important. A lot of these games are now televised so people fall into the trap of thinking theyre important. The coaches are looking for gelling of the team and getting the players fitter. Years ago there was no stories in the paper about pre season and now people are turning into the advertisers dream. Ok its good to see some of the new players etc but i for one won't be bothered if we lost every friendly but cleaned up when the serious stuff starts. The Emirates cup wasn't about the teams competing it was about EMIRATES, they couldn't care less if it was the girl guides playing as long as they got their name on telly. The pre season seems to be getting more and more prestigeous with trophies up for grabs and again its the fans who are paying for it. Could anyone tell me how much is was to get in at Arsenal at the weekend?
Shut the hell up. Fans can cheer about what they want man. Pre-Season can show if your team is doing well. We beat Inter... I take that as a positive thing. I would cheer about it. You just stay in your little zone with Crouch and... Ugh... Torres. And we will stay in ours.
Can you answer my question to how much it was to get in there at the weekend? Or was you supporting Pompey, Woking or Sunderland?
<div class="quote_poster">bringiton Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">Or was you supporting Pompey, Woking or Sunderland?</div> lmao. Pre-Season is about 2 things.. Fitness and the gelling of new signings working their way into the team. Last year I hated the fact that United entered the Amsterdam Tournament, it was stupid and cost us to have Scholes and Rooney getting red cards and missing the start of the season. These tournaments are useless and are only their to generate cash, it gives teams a competitive edge of winning a tournament but they fail to realise that because of this competitive edge, they could get a serious injury. Pre-Season should be touring a country and playing the countries teams to prepare for a new season. Arsenal win the Emirates Cup.. OH MY GOD THIS IS A SIGN OF THINGS TO COME!!! ARSENAL HAVE TO WIN THE LEAGUE NOW!!! Sorry but it doesnt go like that.
It's just for as Flight said players to gel together and the cheering of Gunners was o lift the side up, not something Glory supporters like to do
Pre-season could be for testing new formations, trying new players or youngsters, getting match-fitness. Yeah, its mostly about the fitness. I wouldn't be bothered if we didn't win pre-season trophies but even though its pre-season you still have to be competitive and that helps going into the new season.
We all know pre-season games are extremely important but what i'm getting at is why have them playing for trophies? As flight says there's needless bookings and suspensions because the competetive edge goes up and it gives clubs the reason to charge excessive amounts to pay to watch something what is no more meaningful than a training session.

I really don't understand why the FA had to approve that
