<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Sunderland have smashed the British transfer record for a goalkeeper by completing the capture of Hearts' Craig Gordon.

The Black Cats have agreed a deal worth up to £9million for the SPL outfit, eclipsing the £7.8million Manchester United paid for Fabien Barthez in 2000.

The Scotland international has penned a five-year deal with Roy Keane's side and is now in line to make his Premier League debut against Spurs this weekend.

Keane could not be happier with Gordon's capture and says the 24-year-old will be an asset for The Black Cats for many years to come.

"I'm delighted that we've managed to sign Craig," the Irishman told the club's official website.

"He's a top goalkeeper and he'll be a massive asset for us over the next few years.

"We've already got two very good goalkeepers and Craig is a big signing for Sunderland."

He is a good goalkeeper but If i were him i wouldn't have gone because of two reasons 1) he could go for much better and 2) He is a 2nd choice target Kussack first

You're making him sound like a glory hunter. Now i know where these Chelsea fans have appeared from. I wish I was a joiner by trade so i could fill in all those gaps in the woodwork where they've appeared from.
