CBSsportsline reports that the Dolphins have aquired A.J. Feeley from the Eagles in exchange for a 2005 2nd Round draft choice....Im not sure how to feel about this....I assume this means they would pass on Phil Rivers even if he was available, and I assume thats the end of the Henson and Ramsey trade talks....I really dont know a lot about Feeley, except that I have heard a lot of Eagles fans call for him in place of McNabb....I looked at his numbers from 2002 and they werent all that impressive, but he was 4-1 as a starter....I want to hear about him from the Eagles fans though....
Beef, dont get to excited. i was one of the very few people here that thought AJ wasnt that good even when he went 5-1. first of all, his first 2 TD passes for his career werer in a meaningless game against Tampa in 01. he led a late drive to win the game against Tampas 3rd string D that game. last year in place of Mcnabb he played ok. he started it off with entering the frisco MNF game on like the 3 yard line and threw a TD but it was like a cheep shot. then he put up 0 points against the rams,( BTs int. run back was the only score), then against seattle and washington he lit them up ok? but against dallas that year he did ok and same with the last game with HFA on the line against NYG. all in all he played good, he had like a 55% completions for the most part, but i dont think hes a franchise QB. maybe a younger Feidler, a player that wont win, but wont lose hell just step in. i might be wrong but maybe im not, i would say hed be a guy like jay feidler but a little better. at least youll get Heather Mitts down there, shes soooooo HOT!!!!!!!!
Here's the thing about AJ Feeley. Everytime I have ever seen him play good things happen. I remember the first game he ever played, in pre-season. He brought the eagles back (14 points I think) in like 5 mins or so. I know the preseason means nothing, but for a rookie to show that he has an ability to do that, means something. The game that idiotman mentioned, he also brought the eagles from behind. He's a fairly big guy (6'3 I think). He has a good arm. I think he could be pretty succeseful in the NFL. He just has "IT". Cant describe what "IT" is, but he's got it. He is kind of like Tom Brady. You dont know why he is good, he just is. I wish him all the best, I am glad he will go to the AFC He's very popular down here, my GF named her fish after him, just to give you an idea .
I'm listening to Scott Wetzel on Sporting News Radio (He's a Dolphins fan) and he's pissed!!! Giving away a 2nd round pick??? He also has a VERY low opinion of Phillip Rivers ... says he can't throw the ball more than 45 yards. He's calling for Spielman's head.
Bearsfan. He was not popular cause of McNabb's struggles. In 2002 McNabb broke his ankle, then Koy Detmer came in to start in SF game on MNF, he played great but then he dislocated his sholder. Feeley was a 3rd stringer, with no experience what so ever (in fact, earlier in the year he was placed in the practice sqaud, and no one picked him up) He played well considering that he had almost no snaps during practice. In Philly, we all though we were doomed. But, then he went on to win 4 out of the next 5 games. The one game he lost, was because Akers missed a chip-shot FG in the final 30 secs, and the Giants won in OT. Here's food for thought, he has done more in the NFL then Jake Delhomme ever has before this season. I think with Feeley you have a guy that knows how to win, and he learned a lot under McNabb. I can see him being more like Mark Brunell after he left Green Bay, then Fiedler. I think by the end of next year you will think you got a bargain for a 2nd round pick. I am just glad that we dont have to play you.

I am waiting to get his thoughts on the transaction. E4L; I can only hope AJ does have that Brady-like Magic. Did your GF call her fish AJ or Feeley? I think this will be a good trade. Henson never impressed me. I have mixed feelings about Ramsey. Griese is as good as gone. In a fair competition, AJ will beat Feidler. Miami, though, should not pass on Rivers if he is still available.
i wasnt referring to anyone specifically E4L, just that in general people like the backup qb, and when the starter struggles people love the backup qb
I got her a Beta fish for some holiday, and she called him AJ. That was around the time that he was winning all those games. Here's a funny story, she made me get one also. They supposedly live through anything, mine died like 2 weeks later. Her is still alive, 1.5 years later. Man, thats not good. BF1 It is true that everyone loves the backup. Here's the funny thing, Koy was the back-up, AJ was 3rd string. I think Eagles got a good deal with this trade, I also think that time will show that the Dolphins got value in return.
A second rounder for Feeley isn't out of the question, but if they think he's going to be "the answer" for them, I think they're smoking crack. They'd be better off signing Jeff Blake off of waivers and plugging him in if they think they're in a "win now or else" situation.
E4L, AJ didnt win those games, the D did. over those 5 games, they led the NFL in just about all of the D stats that a team could, including total points. not to mention he threw about 80 passes, and played horrible teams that year, washington, dallas, seattle, and was a non-factor against the rams, what was that final score? 10-0 or 10-3?. i hate hate hate hate hate hate hate detmer as a backup or as a player on the eagles team. he has no arm and has has no size. people complain that mcnabb throws balls in the dirt, well detmers are worse. id rather trade detmer to miami for a 5th and have AJ back mcnabb up than have a 2nd and detmer as a backup. AR is just to loyal to his BYU connections(detmers bro Ty, was their qb).
Only problem, is that no one will give up a 5th for Detmer, especially Miami....the point of this was to get a young QB with measurables who COULD be a great starting QB, Detmer doesnt meet any of those criteria....this trade was about potential, not production, and so we will have to wait for a few years to see who got the better of the deal....I hope it turns out to be a steal
not a chance, fielder has the best winning percentage in like the past 5 years, he wins everything the first 10 weeks, and is .500 the rest of the year, thats there problem, its def. not the QB, they wasted there money getting griese
Sorry to disagree with you so quickly, but Jay Fiedler sucks! He had a QB rating of 19.2 in the forth quarter. How bad do you have to play to have that kind of rating? Fiedler has racked up an overinflated winning percentage because he plays with a very good defense and running game. He can't make plays when called upon. He throws interceptions in the clutch. He's inaccurate. He doesn't make good decisions and can't manage a game. He ties the hands of the offensive coordinator because there's so many things they can't run because he isn't capable of pulling them off. Now that there is talk of him having a little competition, the whiney little baby wants to take his ball and go home. I hope Jay doesn't let the door hit him in the butt on the way out. Bengals, I hope you don't take this post personally. I just have a strong opinion about this big eared brat and want to see him out of Miami as soon as possible. Of course, Telfon Dave keeps trying to get him to stay. When will Wayne get a spine and send them both packing?
im not taking it personally, but like who has he had to throw it too, chambers has only had one year, they havent had a good WR in years, i cant remember the last time they have had one....oh yea, Chris Carter was a good idea.....not really, that just showed how desperate they were to sign a "good" WR, to bad he was a has been.....and now they are putting to much pressure on the offense now since they released Brook Marion....the only offense that they have is chambers and williams..which means defenses just have to concentrate on them two..and they win
i also meant to put, dont take it personaly or anything, and chambers has only had one good year, i think he is in his 3rd year as of next year though
Actually, Oronde Gadsden made a lot of plays and won some big games when he had a starting caliber QB throwing to him. I think Chambers and Randy McMichael could become pro bowlers if the Dolphins can pick up a starting caliber QB. I don't think Marvin Harrison or Randy Moss could consistantly the crap that Fiedler puts in the air. The Cris Carter debacle occured because Teflon Dave was too stupid to give Gadsden a longer deal so that Gadsden would have some assurances for the future if he had played the rest of the season hurt. (Gadsden injured his wrist in a Dolphin victory over the Broncos) This is going to be an ugly season in Miami if Jay stays. I guarantee that the Dolphin fans are going to boo him and Teflon Dave with yet untapped zeal with they stink up the joint again this year. The person I feel sorriest for is Ricky Williams, who will continue to be the player with biggest bulleye on his back and Jay Fiedler's ineptitude will pin it there.
yea, ok, you can saw that mcmicheal and chambers are future pro bowlers, but they are not pro bowlers right now, which makes a huge difference on how fiedler plays, if he has 2 pro bowler QB's then he would have alot better of a year, than he would have one right now...so thats a huge difference..so that isnt really a good arguement, that they are future pro bowlers, i agree, they are, but they arent playing like one now....so fielder has to play with what he has...you know what i mean
