Supposedly the skins are trying to get clinton portis out of denver for Champ Bailey. I will be bullshit if this deal goes down just cause I would love to see him on the pats if he is going to go anywhere. He is probably my favorite running back to watch besides LT. I think this is a stupid trade and a corner now matter how good he is isn't worth a top 5 back. Denver would be getting hosed in this deal even if they are getting a second rd pick this year as well.

Some people believe that any talanted back would do close to what Portis did the last 2 years in denver and history would support that therory to a point(TD, Mike Anderson, Olandis Gary, all productive Bronco runners, none of which were thought highly of until they reached the Mile High city)....If anyone would know, its Denver, and if they think they can draft a guy who will be comparable or plug in one of thier currrnt backs plus add a shutdown corner and a 2nd, I can see why they would make this trade.....I would also argue that a shutdown corner is more valuable than an 1500yard back, because thier are only about 10 of them on the planet, as opposed to a league full of RB that can rush for 1500 yards....

I hear ya on the any back can suceed in denver and they certainly have the history to back that up but they did lose their O-line coach to ATL I believe and I don't care who they plug in there aren't 10 backs in the NFL with the big play speed portis has. Maybe it could be better in the long run for denver but I just don't want to see him on the skins.

Shit if we can't sign law and we are only gonna have him for one more season, since the Pats have said we would keep him at his current cap number if nothing could be worked out this season, I'd do it in a minute because we could still get a D'angelo hall, gamble or pool in the draft plus we have wilson poole and samuel who all can play not as well obviously but will get the job done.

I agree with TB, a top-notch corner is a hard find, especially one as good as Bailey is. Bailey is going to be good for atleast the next decade, with RB's you never know. The shelf-life of a corner is longer then that of a RB. If I was Denver, I would do the trade. I would not give up a 2nd round pick though, 3rd at most.

I don't think this would be as lopsided a deal as everyone's claiming. That guy, Quentin Griffin that Denver has...I'm sure he'll be a 1000 yard guy, no problem.

Champ Bailey is a great player. I think he would be perfect in Denver's scheme.

the difference between TD and Portis, and Anderson and gary, is that portis was rushing for 1500(bout 300 more than anderson or gary) and did it at about 5.5 yds a clip, anderson and gary were more like 4.4, quentin griffin is too small to be feature back. I would make the trade if i am denver, on the condition i can work out a deal with bailey, and if i am washington if i can work out deal with portis

Griffin looked good when he played indoors against Indy then got killed the following week when they played outside on grass against the packers. They sat some key players but he didn't look anything like the back from the week before. I don't think he could handle the ball 25-30 times a game.

bad trade for denver. i mean a DB for a RB. thats apples for a rotten orange, you get even weaker for both teams.

now fred smoot will look even more horrible, and there is no pass rush so how bad will that skin D be if they dont take taylor. then denver will miss their best RB, and hes 22. can you say jake plummer back in arizona with no help? who will champ have to cover over their? jonnie mortan? tim brown? porteR? david boston? thats not really any competition.

if i was seattle id throw in a #2 for him with alexander because u have holt, bruce, boldin, and maybe another stud in frisco. he would mean more to the seahawks than to the broncos.

hey if i was joe gibbs, id work out a trade for a DE so id be getting help on the D side,

Easy fellas.. If you haven't realized it yet, it should be evident by now. Everyone wants Champ Bailey. Champ to the Lions, now to the Broncos!?!

This Deal Won't Happen, Book it!

There is no way that Portis is going to be in a nother jersey next season.. It's the off-season and everyone is just looking for something to talk about. Portis fits Denver's rushing scheme perfect. We haven't really had a guy who had that kind of acceleration and shiftyness off the cut. His change of direction is hands-down the best in the league. I don't care what corner you're talking about, I don't want to part with Portis. [IMG]

I'm in total agreement with you on not wanting to get rid of portis but it sounds more and more like it's just about getting the contracts done for both players to get this deal done. I have a feeling your broncos are going to make a big mistake.

It had been mentioned earlier in the week on ESPN that the Broncos wanted to get Al Wilson's deal done before they worked on a contract for Champ Bailey.....Wilson agreed to terms today, opening the door for Champ....if its gonna happen, we should know in the next few days

I heard deal was done, it was just a matter of both players agreeing to long term deals

I have heard the same as the rest of the gang GOGO, I hope for your sake that it is not a done deal. I would hate to see PORTIS in a SKINS uniform, especially when we have to play them this year. Good luck and I hope whichever way the deal goes it work's out for you.

For starters this deal will likley be dead in the water
both portis and champ must agree to long term deals.
Champ turned down 55 mill from wash and portis will
not play for 350k a year anymore for the next 2 years.
Clinton portis whether it is a product of the broncos o
line or not has been the nfl top rb the last 2 years stat
wise. He will demand to be paid top dollar of all rbs.
You think snyder will pay more for portis then he will
champ? I dont. If t his deal does go down here is the
angle i been hearing skins and broncos wanna go.

Skins get portis sign a free agent corner winfield and
draft sean taylor with 5th pick in the nfl draft. Skins
    look better already.

Denver gets champ bailey and trades that second rd or
third pick to cincy for corey dillon. Both teams get what
    they want both are happy.

Will this happen Nope i think skins and broncos will have
    two holdouts wanting top dollars.

Champ Bailey turned down that contract becuase he didnt like the way it was structured, not becuase of the money ammout...his agent said it was structured like Arringtons deal and they didnt like it....since then, we find out that Arrington has accused the Redskins of stealing $6mil from him because of a difference between the contract he thought he signed and the one they filed with the league....the point being, that Bailey rejected the deal because it was shady, not becuase of the ammout of money, he will likely sign with Denver for the same ammount or less, as long as the contract is legit....Washington will certainly be willing to pay Portis, or they wouldnt try to get him...I think this deal is done, and as soon as Champ agrees to a new contract with Denver, he will be a Bronco and Portis is a Redskin....

if the broncos trade portis they are trading there future, there defense was fine last year, they were ranked third overall in the AFC, and there offensive rush was ranked third, and there passing yards a game was ranked 10 in the afc....portis is there only offensive...why...because if they get rid of him then the defence they are facing only has to focus on the passing game, which isnt much, yea they have anderson, but they wont get another portis like player for another 10-20 years, it is starting to turn from a running offensive game, to a passing offensive game

dillion dillion dillion...if they trade them, then they might get a couple of draft picks, if not they still havent resigned rudi johnson, so i dont know, that might be a sign that they are keeping him, dillion doesnt have any right to say he's leaving or staying...if they trade him, then they might get him some draft picks for him, if they keep him, i would then trade him the year after that, unless something awesome happens....that what i think

It would appear that this deal is done and we are just waiting for March 3rd for official announcement.....Bailey agreed to a contract with the Broncos and Portis has agreed to a deal with the Redskins, I guess we will know in 2 days....
