ST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- The St. Louis Rams defeated the KansasCity Chiefs, 10-3, on Thursday in the final preseason game forboth teams, which was dubbed the "Governor's Cup." The contest featured mostly second- and third-string players asboth coaches decided to keep their starters on the sidelines. Rams coach Scott Linehan kept all three of his main offensiveweapons on the bench for this one. Quarterback Marc Bulger, running back Steven Jackson and wide receiver Torry Holt allwere in uniform but saw no action. Jackson, who led the NFL with 2,334 total yards last year, finished the preseason with two receptions and zero carries. Damon Huard - who was recently named the Chiefs' startingquarterback - was kept out of the game by coach Herman Edwards, while two-time All-Pro running back Larry Johnson was limited toone series in which he gained 12 yards on three rushes. "It was good to get in the game and get a couple of carries,"said Johnson, who ended his holdout and reported to trainingcamp on August 21. "That's the toughest adjustment, gettingback in the speed of the game and getting your timing down withyour offensive linemen." Backup Gus Frerotte moved the Rams 52 yards on 11 plays on thefirst drive of the game, which resulted in a 36-yard field goalby Kevin Lovell. Frerotte played two series and finished11-of-12 for 97 yards.
