MIAMI (Ticker) - After a shocking series sweep of the New YorkMets, rookie Kyle Kendrick and the Philadelphia Phillies look tostay on a roll.


Kendrick and the Phillies aim for a season-high sixth straightvictory when they open a three-game set with the strugglingFlorida Marlins on Friday.


Philadelphia rallied for an 11-10 win over National LeagueEast-leading New York on Thursday to cut its deficit in thedivision to two games. The Phillies, who trailed the Mets bysix games on Monday morning, won all four games to get rightback in the division race.


Philadelphia, which has won five consecutive games on threedifferent occasions in 2007, hand the ball to Kendrick (7-3,3.89 ERA).


The rookie righthander is looking for his third straight winafter having been very effective in his last two starts,allowing five runs and 13 hits in 12 2/3 frames. Included inthat is a 14-2 win over the San Diego Padres on Sunday in whichKendrick yielded just a run and six hits in six innings.

The Marlins have lost 13 of their 15 games, including eight ofnine at home. They will turn to Sergio Mitre (5-7, 4.30).

Mitre, who has lost two straight decisions, has surrendered 17runs and 21 hits in his last three starts - all Florida losses.In his last start, the righthander was tagged for seven runs and11 hits in six innings of an 11-7 loss to the Cincinnati Redson Saturday.


Mitre faced off vs. Kendrick on August 9, with neither hurlerearning a decision in a 4-2 win by Florida.


The teams have split their 12 games this season, with theMarlins winning four of six at home.

MIAMI (Ticker) - Two teams headed in completely differentdirections meet on Saturday when the Philadelphia Philliescontinue their three-game set with the Florida Marlins.

Philadelphia, which has won a season-high six straight contests,is 10 games above .500 for the first time this season andstayed two games behind the National League East-leading NewYork Mets (74-60). Florida (58-77), on the other hand, hasdropped 14 of its last 16 games.


J.D. Durbin (6-3, 5.14 ERA), who will be making his first careerstart against the Marlins, will look to get his third win infour turns on Saturday. In Monday's 9-2 win over the Mets, heyielded two runs and six hits over 6 1/3 innings.


In his only other lifetime appearance against Florida, therighthander tossed three scoreless frames to pick up a save onAugust 7.


The wild journey of Florida's Byung-Hyun Kim (7-6, 5.44)continues as he makes his first start since rejoining theMarlins on August 25. In all, he has pitched for the Rockies,Marlins and Diamondbacks this season before returning to Floridaafter being designated for assignment by Arizona last month.

Upon returning to the Marlins, the righthander has made threerelief appearances, including a scoreless frame in Tuesday's 4-3win over the Braves. In 17 lifetime outings - three starts -Kim is 4-2 with a 3.66 ERA against the Phillies.
