Since we had some talk about TO, and how he says he's the best in the NFL. I though it would be fun to make a list. The list here is of who I think are the best #1 recievers in the NFL today. The most important criterea I used is the lack of a secondary option reciever, ability to get open through a double team, and leadership.

    1. Marvin Harrison
-This guy never had a legitimate #2, always gets open, and makes plays that are spectacular. He's a solid citizen, and you never hear anything but good things about him.

    2. Randy Moss
-If Jevon Kearse is a freak on Defense, this guy is a freak on Offense. Had rare combination of speed, height and elusiveness. He does though take plays off, and causes controversy with his off the field antics. That is all thats keeping him from being No.1 After Cris Carter left, the Vikings still have yet to find a legitimate No.2. for this guy

    3. Anquan Boldin
-I know this guy is a rookie, but can you even name another WR on the Cardinals. To put up numbers like he did, with horrible QB's that Cardinals have is incredible. With Danny Green as a coach he will be great.

    4. Terrell Owens
-The 49ers never seem to have a secondary reciever, JJ Stokes sucked, so did Tie Streets. He has put up great number always fighting off double teams. He maybe a headache on the field, but never has any trouble off the field. Here's a little known fact, did you know that 49ers nominated him for the NFL man of the Year award.

    5. Torry Holt
-He would be higher, but it's nice to have Isaac Bruce on the other side of the field. I would like to see him play on a team with less talent, before I annoint him greatness. He's a very Good reciever, dont know if he's great

    Well thats my Top 5.

Owens wouldn't even make my top five this year. My list would probably go Harrison, Moss, Holt, Chad Johnson, Anquan Boldin and then TO. Maybe...

He's got talent, but I think I'd rather have a guy like Derrick Mason or Hines Ward at this point. TO could be as low as 8th on my list.

It depends on what you are looking for. Moss and Harrison are about equal, but serve different purposes. Moss is not so much of a possession receiver (although 111 catches last season do add up to a lot of possessions). Moss is a big catch receiver that can break a game open at any time. Harrison is the best possession receiver in the league right now. He is not a distraction like Moss can be, although in the past year Moss has improved tremendously and appears to be continuing to do so. With that...

1a. Randy Moss (a little bias might be in here)
    1b. Marvin Harrison
    2. Hines Ward
    3. Torry Holt
    4. Eric Moulds
    5. Amani Toomer

Boldin will be on my top 5 if he has a good year next year.

harrison would be #!, holt would be #2 bolden has to prove for more than a year but has potential(though i hate to admit it) laverneus coles 3, derrick mason 4, santana moss 5. i dont think moss is a good player to have. he takes off plays and has bad attitude. same with To bad attitude and hands hurt him

    1.Marvin Harrison
    2.Torry Holt
    3.Chad Johnson
    4.Hines Ward
    5.Amani Toomer

Boldin needs to prove it over another season, if he does, he moves to #3....TO and Moss cant be on the list beucase they have major faults, TO has lousy hands, and Moss takes plays off, and they both have lousy attitudes

I know its hard to be taken seriously and unbiased when I have Moss as my image...However, I think people put too much weight on the reports of Moss taking plays off and to some extent T.O.'s attitude. I personally don't like T.O. from what I have seen, but his attitude is not keeping him off my list. He didn't have a good year last year...

Regarding Moss...what does everyone think about the fact that at the hint of the possibility of a trade, everyone from Arizona, Oakland, Miami, NY Jets, and so on called the Vikings willing to give up 3 or more Pro Bowl caliber players plus high level draft picks? I think it shows two things: (1) People in the league know that his attitude and "taking plays off" are not as bad as people say they are and (2) even when he does take off plays, he's one of the most dangerous players in the league.

my top 5, #1, has to be randy moss, you are crazy if you say hes not good, #2 marvin harrison, this guy is always open and it always seems that he catches 40 yd td's, #3. Holt, he had a great season and i think hell do it again, #4 TO, can run and catch, almost always in the end zone, #5 chad johnson ive seen him play about 5 games and he always has a good one!

I still say when classifying the WR's its Moss #1 and then theres the rest. I feel hes on a different level but I know beef and bearsfan will be quick to disagree as this has been discussed before.

Moss has most talent i will conceed that. He has more talent than any other reciever. He is on completely other level, yet his #'s arent on another level. The reason: his effort is not on same level as other recievers, and i will take heart over talent every time.

    Huh?

Year Team G GS No Yards Avg Lg TD 20+ 40+ FD
    1998 Minnesota Vikings 16 11 69 1313 19.0 61 17 20 14 51
    1999 Minnesota Vikings 16 16 80 1413 17.7 67 11 26 8 52
    2000 Minnesota Vikings 16 16 77 1437 18.7 78 15 25 8 58
    2001 Minnesota Vikings 16 16 82 1233 15.0 73 10 14 4 59
    2002 Minnesota Vikings 16 16 106 1347 12.7 60 7 19 6 66
    2003 Minnesota Vikings 16 16 111 1632 14.7 72 17 27 6 76
    TOTAL 96 91 525 8375 16.0 78 77 131 46 362

His bad year is 1233 receiving yards which is still a pro-bowl caliber season.

Trust me, as a vikings fan I hate nothing more than to see our top player not play to his full potential...I will give that. But even when he is playing at 75% due to injury or laziness or lack of motivation, he is still on a different level.

Hey Bobby welcome to the forums ( NFLFAN04)
    Looks like another eagles fan.

I think that TO ranks over holt because TO has had more better seasons but holt should be up there by this year.

showing his numbers shows he has numbers that are on average in the top 10 of the league, if not top 5, but to be #3 or 6 some years when you have talent that is superior in speed size and leaping ability, shows he is not PLAYING HARD. The little things you need to do to win he does not do!!! not everything shows on a stat sheet.

Did you know the last 4 years no one has more tds
and receptions yards then moss and harrison?

Randy moss right now is currently gonna break jerry
rice record tds he is ahead of pace. Marvin harrison if
he continues as well could. The sleeper among all
these wr's who is creeping out of no where is tory holt
look at his numbers, he is slowly being overlooked
as he is closing in on marvin and owens.

    1.moss.
    2.harrison
    3.holt
    4.owens
5.hines ward (who does it all)

Eric moulds clearly cant hack it without price
    and is hot and cold.

Amani toomer is hot and cold like moulds.

Anquan boldin like some say must prove he
is worthy more then one rookie season.

Derrick mason is fragile and is usually banged up,
besides the way mcnair throws to his wrs he could
never truley be in the league of moss, harrison etc.

Last joe horn is a good wr but he also is fragile.

Bottom line them top wr's there isnt any better then
them in the game. I hate all of them except ward,
holt, harrison but a facts a fact. The numbers after
    these players drop off alot.

look up the stats of them players.

I don't know how anyone would have Bolden on the list before Hines Ward.

Hines Ward has Plaxico Burres on the other side of the field. Who did Boldin have?? In fact can you even name another WR on the Cardinals, that's the point.

No one knew if Bolden even had talent. He wasn't doubled up on as much as Hines either.
