So the word is Lesnar is going to make a run at the NFL. Anyone care to speculate on any impact he could have? Personally, I think he'd make a decent d-lineman. Of course he'd have so much to learn, he might be a practice squad guy for the first year or two. Thoughts?
The only thought I had was that without massive amounts of steroids, this guy would be 175 lbs. My guess is that he'll never make it...

The guy is athletically talented. Before he became WWE, he was a part of REAL wrestling and pretty darn good at it. I think it would take a few years and he *might* be serviceable. A lot of people in the NFL are big and strong, its the smart ones and the quick ones who really make an impact.
If his size is found to be non-drug induced, I think he would have a legit shot at playing D-Line in the NFL. But that would only be if he spent a year or two on someone's practice squad and/or in NFL Europe.
The Pats have a gaurd who used to be a real wrestler named Steven Neal. I guess he was an olympian or something I'm not really sure. Anyway belichick is always praising him and saying how far he has come and last season he would have actually made the team and played but he got hurt and was down for the season. I mean I guess brock could suceed but he would have to work twice as hard as every NFL player to do it in this lifetime and thats something I'm not sure anyone is ready for.
Football is not wrestling and I think it would be a while before, even if, we were to ever see him grace the field. He would have to learn the key aspects of whatever position he would be playing and who would take the chance of having him? Good size but what about his speed and field smarts? Maybe this is just another publicity stunt. Good luck if he does do it though, I guess.
I think he might be good but it might take a while. I can see him strictly as a DT in a 1 gap system. FYI, Goldberg & the Rock both played DT. Rock never made it to the pros. Goldberg was on the Falcons & Rams roster if memory serves Kurt Angle tried the NFL but could not make the Steelers (his hometown team).
While his size now may or may not be drug induced, he was a big boy before the drugs. As Vikingfan said, he was a wrestler in college and was a NCAA Champ at Minnesota at heavyweight. He manhandled pretty much every one of the people I saw him wrestle. Yes, it doesn't mean he can play NFL football though. Like BA said, Kurt Angle didn't make it. He certainly has (had) enough athletic talent to give it a shot though. I doubt it is a publicity stunt, but who knows? I remember him wrestling, but don't remember if he was on the Gopher football team. Anyone else know?

I think he is fast enough and strong enough, but I think 4thandlong is right, the field smarts is going to be the tough one. I'm pretty sure it's not a publicity stunt. I heard him on the radio and he said he didn't want to be on the road all the time away from his kid, and he didn't want to reach 40 and decide he wasted his life. He wants to take a shot at the NFL and leave the wrestling lifestyle. I hope he makes it.
