QUOTE

Can you imagine Deke as Roger Clemens? Well, consider that one of the possibilities that the 41-year-old center is rolling around inside his venerable head is sitting out the first couple of months of the season and maybe joining the Rockets in January when he gets a gauge on how they're playing and where he might fit into Rick Adelman's new scheme. It is just a possibility, but it is an interesting twist as Mutombo continues to weigh the pros and cons of playing another season in the NBA. -- Houston Chronicle

I found this one interesting. So many retired players trying to come back, and now unique ways to the NBA in how to stick around.
-Petey

Mutumbo was playing terrific basketball for his age when Yao went down last year. He could really help out the Rockets with 5 depth, however he is correct in wondering if he'll fit in Rick Adelman's up-tempo offensive schemes. There's also the fact that he's had a very long and fulfilling career, the only thing that has alluded him is a championship and what is the point of playing for the Rockets if there's no chance to win one. I think Mutumbo should stay and take another shot at a ring this being his final season, but he's right to have doubts.
