Maddux goes for his fourth straight win as the Padres andDiamondbacks battle for the top spot in the National League Weston Monday in the opener of a three-game series. The Padres are currently tied with the Diamondbacks at the topof the NL West standings. The 41-year-old Maddux (10-9, 3.79 ERA) did not receive adecision after giving up one run and eight hits with fivestrikeouts over seven innings in San Diego's 3-1 triumph overArizona on Wednesday. The 22-year veteran, who is a four-time NL Cy Young awardwinner, is looking for his 344th career win. Once again, Maddux will be opposed by Micah Owings (6-7, 4.54),who surrendered one run on three hits and a walk with sixstrikeouts in the matchup. Owings has just one win over thepast two months, seeing his ERA balloon from 3.79 in that span.
