QUOTE

You can be sure the Bulls haven't given up on Pau Gasol, who is happy for now, thanks to the Grizzlies' acquisition of his buddy, Juan Carlos Navarro. What? That makes no sense. Why would the Grizzlies get more talent? If the Grizzlies suck, and this turns into Gasol blasting the Grizzlies, and demanding a trade (not just asking for one), this could easily turn into Joe Smith, Joakim Noah, Thabo Sefolosha, and Khryapa for Gasol.

Your still not making sense.
PJ Brown's salary is very important in trading for Kobe/KG. But Gasol's contract is 13.7 million, not in that 20 million range.
And with Navarro on board, the trade isn't happening anytime soon. Then once they get going, and if the Grizzlies suck, a trade would begin being demanded. That December 15th, 2007 date is only a month and a half into the season, and Joe Smith, Joakim Noah will be tradeable.
While Joe Smith is giving up more talent than PJ Brown, you have to look at the Bulls frontcourt after the trade still. You still have Gasol, Thomas, Wallace, Gray as far as bigs go, and then you have Nocioni playing the combo forward, so giving up Smith instead of Brown shouldn't really matter too much.

Memphis loves Noah, and with Gasol demanding a trade, the young players (Thabo, Noah), filler (Khryapa, Smith), and first round draft picks model would play through once again.
I just don't see how Paxson could physically say no to forming a team of:
PG-Kirk Hinrich/Chris DuhonSG-Ben Gordon/Adrian GriffinSF-Luol Deng/Andres NocioniPF-Pau Gasol/Tyrus ThomasC- Ben Wallace/Aaron Gray

Bulls might need to give up Nocioni with Noah, but they could probably keep Thabo in that case.
I wouldn't be shocked if the final trade ended up being:
Bulls Trade: Andres Nocioni, Thabo Sefolosha, Joakim Noah, Chris Duhon, Joe Smith, Viktar Khryapa.
Memphis Trades: Pau Gasol, Juan Carlos Navarro, Brian Cardinal, Kyle Lowry, Hakim Warrick.
Giving Grizzlies
PG- Michael Conley Jr/Chris DuhonSG- Mike Miller/Thabo SefoloshaSF- Andrse Nocioni/Rudy GayPF-Joakim Noah/Joe SmithC- Darko Milicic
Bulls:
PG-Kirk Hinrich/Kyle LowrySG-Ben Gordon/Juan Carlos NavarroSF-Luol Deng/Hakim WarrickPF-Pau Gasol/Tyrus ThomasC- Ben Wallace/Aaron Gray
But I doubt that one happens, and it'll be a more simpler Noah, one of Nocioni/Thabo, Smith, and Khryapa for Gasol, Juan Carlos Navvaro, Filler (needed if its Nocioni and not Thabo).
Its always hard to tell what would be done, but it'll likely be the 2 assets, filler, and draft picks model, and not the complex trade that allows them to dump Cardinal.

Noah, Thabo, and next year's #1 pick is a pretty nice package of young talent to begin rebuilding.

I would like to see this deal go down although if it hasnt happened yet i doubt its going to, but i may be wrong.
