I just thought of a fun little exercise. Imagine you are a 33rd franchise, and you have a 7-round expansion draft where you are allowed to pick players from any team. Which 7 would you pick, here's mine. 1. QB Donovan McNabb, Eagles 2. OL Orlando Pace, Rams 3. WR Randy Moss, Vikings 4. CB Champ Bailey, Broncos 5. DE Jevon Kearse, Eagles 6. RB Ladainian Tomlinson, Chargers 7. LB Ray Lewis, Ravens
Ill go for this, but to add a bit of reality to it, Im going to stipulate that you can only take 1 player from any given team.... 1.Byron Leftwich 2.Ladainian Tomlinson 3.Brian Urlacher 4.Julius Peppers 5.Ed Reed 6.Roy Williams(S) 7.Dwight Freeney and since Id also have the #1 overall pick, Id trade it to the Giants for the #4 and a 2nd, then pick Gallery at 4 and hope for a player like Micheal Clayton with my #2 and D.J. Williams with the extra #2 I got from the Giants Obviously I focused on young players, with a conentrated effort on fast defensive playmakers....the reason I took a pair of young safeties instead of CB's is because corners can be avoided with game planning, while safeties can not, especially if you have 2 of them....those 2 guys would allow me to change up my defense all the time without loosing anything.....and safeties are a little cheaper than corners, although those 2 may be the exception to that....
1. mcnabb 2. tomlinson 3. moss 4. r lewis 5. s rice 6. c bailey 7. arrington lots of coin flips on the picks. I take these boys in the top 7
1. L. Tomlinson 2. O. Pace 3. O. Kruetz 4. W. Shields 5. B. Urlacher 6. C. Bailey 7. E. Reed #1 pick-Eli Manning 2nd round-best available D-lineman
1) Ahman Green 2) Torry Holt Ba's fantasy team repeat?? 3) Zach Thomas (most complete MLB in the game) 4) Boller QB Ravens 5) Casey Hampton NT Steelers Run stuffer/shield for ZT 6) Dante Hall WR/KR momentum & field position are crucial 7) Trufant CB Seattle 1st round pick Roy Williams WR Texas
1.Peyton Manning 2.Tomlinson 3.Charles Woodson 4.Champ Bailey 5.Brian Urlacher 6.Roy Williams(S) 7.Ed Reed 1st rd pick Larry Fitzgerald, or trade down if adequate compensation and take gallery. I think i could win right away with this team
BA-I agree about Zach Thomas, I just had to go with the younger Urlacher. Nobody has more heart than Zach. BF1-I had Woodson at first. I think he is the superior CB. It was just that he has been hurt often lately. I thought the #2 guy 100% of the time was more desirable than the #1 guy 50% of the time. Everyone-I have been enjoying this thread. I had to get those O-linemen in there (being steeped in KC tradition, like I am).
I'd have to go with 1. Tom Brady ( I know I'm a homer here) 2. LT 3. Ray Lewis 4. Orlando Pace 5. Anquan Boldin 6. Champ Bailey 7. Roy Williams
1. Jamal Lewis 2. Mike Vick 3. Chad Johnson 4. Dwight Freeney 5. Leonard Little 6. Alan Faneca 7. Walter Jones
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (kcgsc)</div><div class='quotemain'>BA-I agree about Zach Thomas, I just had to go with the younger Urlacher. He's a good player, but I just dont see him as great.
uhhh, Urlacher is hands down one of the top two linebackers in the league, and without any doubt the most physically talented linebacker in repsect to size/speed combination. As a result he plays a higher percentage of defensive snaps than any other LB in the league.
I have reconsidered my approach to this excerise.....I believe the rules set forth in this expansion would give a team unprecedented leverage, and with that, I would proceed in the following manner..... 1.I assume since Im an expansion team, that I have the #1 pick and all other teams move down a spot..... 2.I call SD and threaten to take Tomlinson if they dont trade me the #2 pick for my 7th....I believe they would agree to that deal.... 3.I call the Cardinals and threaten to take Boldin if they dont surrender thier 2nd round pick and a 7th for my 6th..... 4.I call the Giants and threaten to take Shockey if they dont surrender thier 2nd round pick and a 7th for the Cardinals 7th.... 5.I call the Redskins and threaten to take Portis is they dont surrender thier 1st and a 7th for the Giants 7th.... 6.I call the Lions and threaten to take Charles Rogers if they dont surrender thier 1st and 7th for the Redskins 7th.... 7.I call the Falcons and threaten to take Vick if they dont surrender thier #1 and #7 for the Lions #7.... 8.I call the Jag and threaten to take Leftwhich if they dont surrender thier #1 and for the Falcons #7.... Now I have secured the #1, #2, #6, #7, #9, #10, #34, #35, and #36 selection in the 1st 2 rounds..... I will be drafting the following players(Im assuming they are available when I draft them).... #1.Eli Manning #2.Robert Gallery #6.Sean Taylor #7.Kellen Winslow #9.Roy Willams #10.DeAngelo Hall #34.Michael Clayton #35.Justin Smiley #36.Darnell Dockett Then I will pick the following 7 players... 1.Domanick Davis 2.Ed Reed 3.Julius Peppers 4.Dwight Freeney 5.Brian Urlacher 6.Jordan Gross 7.Champ Bailey I think I could have a dynasty set up quickly with this strategy...
In the NFL......- 1 Peyton Manning 2. Clinton Poris 3. Randy Moss 4. Ray Lewis 5. Julius Peppers 6. Kris Jenkins 7. Champ Bailey In the Draft..... 1. Phillip Rivers 2. Sean Taylor 3. Larry Fitzgerald 4. Kellen Winslow 5. Mike Williams 6. Robert Gallery 7. Kenechi Udeze

But I would have to disagree with you BF1. He has had some good years, and he's still very young (27 years old). However, I think a lot of his early success could contributed to having Ted washington in the middle, and other outstanding LB's (i.e. Colvin). I think Urlacher has problem shedding blockers. I have seen games where he was completely invisible. I think he's a very good player, but not one of the top 2 LB's in the leagues. Not even one of the top 2 MLB's in the game I would take these MLB's over him Ray Lewis Zack Thomas Takeo Spikes Keith Brooking I dont want to make it look like I dont this he's a good player, he is. He's not a 50 million dollar player though (I think he is overpaid). I think that for an LB to get paid that much you would have to be very special, cause that money is better spent at other positions.
1st, Spikes is an OLB, not a MLB....2nd Brookings plays ILB in a 3-4, not MLB....3rd, Zack Thomas is popular becuase he gets so much out of limited physical talent, but hes not nearly as good as Urlacher....4th, Urlacher is the best defensive player in the league, at any position, no one is more versitile....5th, he will be great in the Bears new system, because he has the speed it take to drop into the deep zone that the Cover 2 requires out of the MLB....6th, Ray Lewis is excellent, but I think hes more overrated than Urlacher
IT doesnt matter, because they all play every position anyway. About Urlacher. You find out that a player is great when the players around him are not good, but he still shines like a star. Urlacher, has not been doing that. He's been playing well, but not great. Thats just my opinion. I happen to agree with what the Eagles have been doing the last few years. You can get by with decent LB's as long as you have good corners and good pass-rush. Just look at Trotter, he was great when he was here, now he will get cut by the Redskins. So unless a trancindental player like LT, or Ray Lewis is on your team, you can get by with Emmonses and Simoneus of the world. A great Defensive Coordinator can scheme with decent LB's, it's harder to scheme with less then good corners or defensive line.
Oh, I'll give it a shot... (Pains me to not take Favre) NFL: 1. Peyton Manning 2. Ray Lewis 3. Champ Bailey 4. Charles Woodson 5. Ahman Green 6. Chad Johnson 7. Roy Williams (S) Draft: 1. Robert Gallery (OL) 2. Lee Evans (WR) (Though I doubt he'll drop this far)

I have to copy Pats37 & go w/ Brady as well. Y'all did not think I would recant & go w/ Fiedler - did ya??
