Several sources in det on the radio are saying
that det and the jacksonville are discussing a
swap of first and the jags are willing to give det
darious's rights to det. If this is true wow det
would have a very good secondary.

Maybe the jags are thinking sean taylor.

Why does daruis want out of Jacksonville? That Def is going to be nasty next season.

Sf, what it sounds like is they cant get darious
resigned to a new deal, so the jags may want
sean taylor to replace him or even possibly
making this deal to only trade with the pats
for the pats picks. Alot of smoke before the
draft april 24th so i beleive it when i see it.

Darious is i beleive 29 years of age.

Pro bowl is a popularity contest. I wouldn't count that when evaluating a player. Look at Rodney harrison not making it this year and guys with half the heart and talalnt like Brock Marion going to the probowl yet again. Harrison had superior numbers to any safety in the afc besides maybe Ed reed.

I agree that the pro bowl is a popularity contest and am amazed that any Dolphin would win especially where the national media has input. Further, Harrison is the best SS in the game. Of course, this is the most over looked & underratred position in the game IMO.

You have to have some skill to make the probowl.

Example How did stephen davis make it in over
shawn alexander, i know davis is not more popular
vote over shawn who had better numbers last year.

Same goes for ladanian tomlinson who was missed in
favor of the priest and jamal lewis, No offense i know
that jamal hit 2000 yards but tomlinson had
outstanding numbers and far more tds and receiving
    yards then jamal.

Probowl votes outta be turned in at end of the year
    in my opinon.

So popularity votes dont always account for a automatic
    bid to honolulu.

indeed, however sometimes they are just blatantly wrong, like alstott getting in as a fullback every year, his carries dont come from the fullback position and as a fullback he is one of the worst blockers. he fumbles way to much(once every 40 or 50 touches)

True, i think its varation of both not just one.
Alstott i beleive started getting consideration
for his goaline tds. i think avg around 8 a year.

Stephen Davis missed two whole games and parts of others. Yet still racked up 1444 yards. Shawn Alexander is good, but it is a case where you have to say who could he replace? John Lynch is okay, but Mike Minter has had better stats then him every year. If I can find out where I saw that, I'll post it.

hey bucs i looked at alstotts numbers and i only saw 2 years that he reached 8 rushing tds, he was closer to avg 5 and his catch numbers after his rookie year were pedestrian at best. he only averaged over 4 yds a carry once

Yeah bearsfan i was close i didnt actually look
at mike's stats i was guessing on it. I guess
for a fb thats not to bad, tho some say he is
    not a fb.

Delhomme, There's no denying stephen davis
spectacular season he had in 2003, however
look at shaun alexanders stats for 2003.
He had far more tds and more reception yards
and almost the same rushing yards.
Stephen davis doesnt warrant a popularity
vote over alexander. He got in based on the
    season he had no doubt.

S davis: (Rush yds 1444) (tds 8) (Rec tds 0)

S alexander: (Rush yds 1435)( tds 14) (Rec tds 2)

This doesnt count there receiving yards in which
    alexander was ahead also.

Both guys were very good in 03. But I think Davis was ultimately voted in becuase of the terrible season he had in 02 and the rebound he made from that. Found the Minter<>Lynch stats

    Lynch Tackles: 72-64-87
    Minter Tackles: 89-82-84

    Lynch Interceptions: 2-3-3
    Minter Interceptions: 3-4-3

    Lynch PD's: 8-9-8
    Minter PD's: 8-9-10

There's not a huge difference until you get to tackles. Not to take anything away from Lynch, but Minter should have went to the PB this year, so the argument can be made both ways. No offense, but Lynch went because he was more popular, but Minter had the better season.

I agree with the minter and lynch deals.
I was trying to prove a point at some point
popularity doesnt always get ya in.

As for davis getting in over alexander it was
more based on what davis did for carolina's
rush offense and the wonderful season he had.
To some point they do vote in guys based on
what the did in the season.

I don't really like the way the Pro Bowl is set up. People who know nothing about football will just vote for their favorite players rather than those who should have went.

until lynn swann got in it seemed the HOF of fame made up for stupidity of pro bowl selections, but now with swan in it is a sham too
