Right seeing as this is an American site and i have favorite teams in pretty much all sports.
B'ball=Lakers
Baseball= Yankees
Hockey=Calgari flames

But i don't seem to have a fav American football team, so like the other threads try and convince me of a team, I'm swaying towards the Miami Dolphins cos i saw Ace ventura last night lol

Green Bay/Chicago, you could get on one side of that rivalry. Cowboys, Patriots, Eagles, and Colts might be worth getting into.
Calgary, with a Y.
The 'Fins for sure! Because, because, ... well, ah shit, who am I kidding, if you didn't see Dan play there's no good reason to be a Fins fan.

Shookem has already put forth the best choice.
However, as I see it there are 29 other options. Anybody but the Bills and/or Broncos.

I assume you are from Europe....if thats he case, the Dolphins are the choice, because they are the only team in the league to have a home game in Europe this year....Sunday October 21st, the NY Giants at the Miami Dolphins in London....
The Seattle Seahawks. They are a good team, they went to the superbowl the year before last. Our running back was the MVP that year. You would also have the pleasure of telling people you're a "Seahawk" fan. What is a "Seahawk" anyway? Despite all that, you would also be one of the founding members of the Seahawks fan club. I'm the only person who has admitted to being a Seakawks fan so far on s2.
New York Giants.
For reasons gambitnut stated above, because it's better to root for the Giants than the Cowboys.

If you only like your teams when they are good, and don't even know who plays for them when they are bad, you should root for the Cowboys.
Hey, I'm a Giants fan, so I encourage anyone to root for them. They are also playing the Dolphins in London, so you can probably watch them play.
If you are like me, though, you probably want to root for an underdog team that has had little to no success.
The NFL happens to have possibly the worst franchise in sports - the Arizona Cardinals.
Here's their wiki, if you want to read about them, but the best thing about them, IMO, is that they haven't won a single playoff game since 1947.
And, you know what, they might be good. The NFL is completely unpredictable. Players switch teams a lot and a team can go from terrible to excellent in the course of a single season.
They also have a promising young quarterback (which is a team's most important player) called Matt Leinart.

I'll tell you what, I would like to know a football team over there that fits this profile.
My favorite player is Cristiano Renaldo because he is from the same town as my Grandmother, but he is not the kind of athlete I usually root for (I feel a little guilty) and rooting for Man U is just waaaay to cliche for me.
Give me a long suffering side to root for and a reason and I am on board!

Hey Max,
Lakers, Detroit Red Wings, Dallas Cowboys! (Some of the best Franchises in American Sports)

It depends on who you want to route for. If you want to route for the teams winning lately, go for the Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots, or San Diego Chargers. If you are more of the underdog type, the Cleveland Browns or Detroit Lions will suit your needs nicely. Detroit has won one playoff game in about 50 years. The Browns haven't done much better.
Some teams I definitely would avoid routing for:

NY Giants. Their coach Tom Coughlin has been mentioned in the same breath as Hitler (and that was just him talking about himself). Anyone who's ever worked with him hates him. He's a control freak who hasn't done anything in the NFL. Many players have had their careers cut short by him forcing them to play when seriously hurt. He is an evil, nasty man and needs to be fired. Any team that employs such a monster does not deserve to have fans.

Denver Broncos. Again, a coach so vile that he coaches hisplayers to purposly hurt the other team. Shanahan posts bounties on opposing teammates and teaches his players to cut-block which risks injuring thedefensive linemen's knees(career-ending) every play. For fantasy football players, he'll purposly screw them over by saying one RB will start when he has no intention of starting that player. Route for Skeletor, route for EVIL!

I agree that you should start following the Raiders. Their fans are the closest thing to the crazy european soccer, rugby, etc. fans and they're an underdog team with a badass attitude. Plus they have a pretty widely spread fanbase no matter where you go and although they suck right now they are a historically great franchise and on the way back to the top!
