Do you want to be entertained? Do you care about winning as well?

Indy has a beautiful offense and wins very consistently. I assume you want to have fun when you watch the NFL, correct? Then Indy is set for the next 5-6 seasons. After that you could watch Palmer on the Bengals I suppose.

You can't go wrong with the best defense in the league, and an up and coming offense, we need more Ravens fans!

Let's do this step by step.

Choose a team in the NFC East. Its the coolest and most interesting division in football and each of the 4 teams has a long history and a devoted fanbase. The rivalries are intense and they also get tonnes of media coverage so it'll be easier to keep up with them.

Now that we've narrowed it down to 4 teams, right off the bat I'd discourage you from following the Eagles. Philly fans may present the one flaw to the theory of evolution. I mean, these are people that would actually pelt Jolly Old St. Nick with snowballs for no apparent reason. They're barbaric, classless, and they probably smell.

I'd also suggest not rooting for the Redskins. Every year their incompetent owner spends a fortune on the free agent market and every year it amounts to abolutely nothing. A typical year for a Redskins fan starts with irrational optimism followed by crushing disappointment that only increases exponentially by every week. At the end of the playoff-less season, they somehow pick themselves up and wrap their hopes around a soon-to-be draft bust and a few overpaid additions. But the same cycle just repeats itself again. Don't subject yourself to that torture.

Now we're left with the cream of the NFC crop. I would warn you against being another faceless Cowboys fan that loudly yells nonsensical phrases and only follows the team when they're winning. But you're a Yankees fan, so I'm not sure how effective it'll be. If you ever decide to follow a real franchise, famous for producing some of the greatest coaches as well as the greatest defensive player in NFL history, with a soon-to-be star QB, and a no-nonsense GM, then start rooting for the Giants while they're on the downswing.

If winning, a decent run game, hot chearleaders and Defense is important to you, dont watch the Detroit Lions. Now if your the guy who drafts a WR in the first round of your fantasy draft, Enjoys stupid penaltys and enjoys drinking alot of beer, and cussing alot, then the Detroit Lions are your team.

    Great points Chutney.

Producing some of the greatest coaches, check. Helllllooooo Landry
Greatest defensive player ever? Uh, Ware and Roy are sick but were you refering to Strahan? Greatest ever? Who's the nonsensical fan?
Soon to be star QB? Hello pro-bowler Tony Romo
No nonsense GM? Thank you Jerruh

    It's gotta be the cowboys

Although I will say that the Cowboys fans in Dallas, for some reason that I will never know, aren't the best fans out there. I'm told that the stadium is strangely quiet.

Also theres a difference between following, and supporting a team. I followed the Cowboys through the downtrodden years, but wouldn't never really show my support in a boistrus manner (save the jersey worn once a week). It's hard to 'support' a guy like Troy Hambrick fellas. I mean hell, most Net fans don't even support their go-to guy.

Cowboys are the greatest franchise in the NFL, and you even get a special joiner's reward because they're really good now

Vince Lombardi started his NFL coaching career as an offensive coordinator for the Giants. Tom Landry started his as a defensive coordinator for the Giants. Romeo Crennel was an assistant coach for the Giants, Sean Payton was an offensive coordinator, Charlie Weis was a defensive assistant/special teams coach, and Bill Belichek was a defensive coordinator. And of course, Bill Parcells began his head coaching career by leading New York to 2 Super Bowls.

As for the greatest defensive player in the history of the NFL, I was referring to the real LT. There would be no Demarcus Ware if it hadn't been for Lawrence Taylor.

    Eli Manning > Tony Romo.

Jerry Jones is a senile old cook.

The Giants are the team to follow.

    THE RAIDERS! JOIN RAIDER NATION!

Really though, go with either the Raiders or if you want a great team that wings right now and has the best player in the league, go with the Chargers.

Ok I'll give you the coaches, but is it realistic for a fan to pick a new team based off of past accolades? I don't think so, personally.
Plus, the minute you allow for past players to be in consideration on what makes a great team you've got to pay homage to the cowboys greats; namely, the all time leading rusher.

Jerry Jones isn't senile, c'mon now. That's not being objective.

And how can you honestly say that Manning > Romo? Manning has done a good job of improving since he's been in the year, but one's a pro bowl quarterback, and one isn't. Also one dates celebrities and one is a softy.

I would pick a team that you would be on every week. Not sure if you get NFL games. Whichever team you see the most this season follow next year.
