QB - Green RB - Holmes WR - Morton WR - Kennison TE - Gonzalez Is Vermeil satisfied with Morton & Kennison? Green had a breakout year, Holmes continues to dazzle, and Gonzalez remains a top producer. With some help at receiver, the Chiefs could be unstoppable on offense. What will that remedy be? Will Trent Green be even better this year? Can Holmes maintain his stats at 31 years old?
If Vermeil is satisfied with Morton & Kennison, he should have his head examined! That being said, I think we have more pressing needs. I personally think our biggest need is a fast, run-stuffing MLB, but I have not seen anyone else saying this. True, things went downhill AFTER Mazlowski was injured last year, but he is average at best. We could also use depth at OLB. Secondly we need a CB, so Bartee can be removed from ever seeing the field again. I would play Tony Richardson (FB) over him in nickel and dime situations if it were up to me! Everything I read says we will draft a WR or DT with our first round pick. We have a promising young defensive line and I think Cunninghams presence alone will bring them around. He believes in pressuring the QB and he won't make Robinson's mistakes and have the youngsters out-thinking themselves. Unstoppable on offense will mean nothing if we have another playoff meltdown like we did against the Colts last year. Gunther will make us better, but they need to give the man some tools to work with. Our schedule alone this year will make it tough getting back to the playoffs. I think Green will be as good this year, but probably not better. I think he has reached his peak. He may be marginally more dangerous with a better WR corp, but we throw short dump offs to Richardson, Holmes and Gonzalez the majority of the time anyway. Kennison possesses just enough speed to stretch things and open up the short stuff underneath. If Morton doesn't quit dropping balls, Vermeil and Saunders won't allow many to be thrown his way. I think Priest will be even better than last year. He got a slow start while favoring the hip last year, but was showing no ill-effects late in the season. He was saying around week 5-6 that he was still only about 85%. He was claiming 100% by season's end. This could be the Priest's best year as a pro. I would like to see him break Faulks records he was gunning at before the hip sidelined him. Man Steelerfan, did you have some time to kill or what? You left a post in every forum today! The wedding on draft day? Is it yours? I couldn't remember the date.
I had been slacking a bit on the boards so I thought I'd step up. Besides, this gives me a chance to get the scoop on some teams that I don't always hear as much as I'd like. I appreciate your take on the Chiefs. Very insightful. As for the wedding next Saturday, it's not mine. Mine is May 14th, 2005. It's a friend of mine that I used to work with. Should be fun, but I am sorry that I'm missing the draft.
I thought those bells were a year away, but was afraid I had missed it. Now that I have railed against Bartee, he will probably make the Pro Bowl this year.
Yeah, we're 13 month right now from the big day. We're still working on the plans. It's going well though so no complaints. I missed making a point about the defense. You are certainly correct in the fact that the defense will be the key to Kansas City this year. The offense should only be better (if Holmes stays healthy.) Gunther should help the defense though. I'm pretty curious as to how well the Chiefs will fare down the stretch. I feel as though so many teams made big strides so far in the offseason.

With a big time receiver, KC would just be scary.
New outlook for opening day: QB - Green RB - Holmes WR - Kennison(Morton injured) WR - D. Hall TE - Gonzalez TE - K. Wilson was supposed to be here, and broke his leg this week! R. Smith and S. Parker will be subbing in and out at WR as needed (at least until Morton comes back).
Yep! Dante is a great return man, but Kennison is fast too and is a much bigger target. Kennison has been a starter all along at WR. Hall has been 3 or 4 on the depth chart. If Hall was 5-6 inches taller he would be more of a force at WR imo. It would not bother me to see Dante move up on the depth chart though.
