http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives...instant_replay/

QUOTE

The NBA Board of Governors last week voted to approve the use by officials of instant replay to review all Flagrant Foul Penalty Two calls and player altercations, beginning with the 2007-08 season. Both actions were taken at the recommendation of the league's Competition Committee. With respect to Flagrant Foul Penalty Two calls, the Competition Committee decided that viewing instant replay was appropriate in light of the serious consequence to a player of committing such a foul, which is ejection from the game. With respect to player altercations, the Committee thought that the game officials’ first priority should be ending the altercation and that, in the course of doing so, they might not see a punch or other unsportsmanlike act committed by a player that might call for ejection. The use of instant replay will assist the officials in sorting out penalties after they have ended the altercation

Good. Some people think that more replay in basketball is negative, because it takes extra time, but I think this is good for the league. A lot of guys may commit somewhat of a hard foul, get tossed, and really don't deserve the ejection. Hopefully this cuts it down.

QUOTE (mynetsforlife)

Hopefully less traveling by Wade/Less superstar treatment.

I think it's really focusing on flagrant/hard fouls, they won't be checking replays every time they think a player may have carried or traveled. I don't think it will have any effect on that issue, and I think the "star treatment" will always be there.

Yea if they focus this replay on stupid little shit like players traveling in the lane, I and most other fans will be pissed. I don't want this game to turn into a baseballesque pace. The replay will be good in the terms of what celticballa stated.
This is one of those things I would like to see in action before I judge it. It will either turn out really well fixing all bad calls or it will slow up the game and only make calls slightly more efficient.
i think it'll help out a little bit.
such as, in that toronto game, where MoPete got kicked out the game...they could've looked at the replay, and either MoPete woulda stayed in the game, or Vince woulda gotten thrown out, too.
I think it'll make things more fair, and i'm all about fairness.

The only situations I could think of this past season was with MoPete and VC where Mo got thrown out for nothing at all, and the second would be the Duncan situation where he got thrown out of the game from the bench but thats pretty much it....I really hope this doesnt slow down the game dramatically because my interest would take a slight hit.
I don't even like the idea of tampering with subjective rulings...I could see the shots at the end of the halves, but to ask refs toreview judgement calls under the scrutiny of 20,000 fans in the heat of the moment is unfair. Their ruling should be their ruling.
