    NE just traded for Dillon

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1785718

I personally think thats a bad deal for the Pats. They gave away a second round pick for an aging and selfish player. They could have gotten him for much less i would think, or they should have used the 2nd round pick to move up a few slots to Draft Stephen Jackson or draft Kevin Joney. Dillon is 31, and I think his best years are behind him. Just look at last year, The Bengals were finally winning and he was still bitching. I would not have done this deal, especially for a 2nd round pick.

I think it's a good move for New England. He could give them 2-3 productive seasons and for a 2nd round pick? Big deal. They could have wasted that with a bad pick for all we know. It hurts the Raiders, but I'm sure the Pats won't feel bad about hurting the conference rival.

Dillon is 29, not 31...he will be 30 in October though....hes got gas left in the tank....its likely a good trade for both teams...

You don't sound happy about having to play against Dillon twice a year Beef.

i think that he is the terrell owens of the running back position. i think that no one got the best deal... yet. we wont know until the end of the year. for all we know, ciincinatti could drafty the next tom brady w/ that pick and do good or bad. dillon can do good in new england or bad in new englkand, we just dont know yet

Of course not, at this point it's speculation. Dillon, at age 29, is certainly reaching those years of questionability. Plenty of backs have had success at 29,30, and 31 but it really starts to trail off after that. But maybe New England only needs one or two good seasons out of him. I think it was a good deal, but I've been wrong before and I'll be wrong again.

There is a chance that this will be a success. However, the Patriots have won 2 Super Bowls with the team-first attitude kind of players. I am not sure that taking a chance on Corey Dillon will not affect the chemistry on this offense. I think the last thing Tom Brady needs is a guy in his ear bitching that he is not getting the ball, even when the team is not winning.

Here is why he is different that Terrell Owens. Owens did not become a problem for his team until after the 49ers started losing. Dillon has always had this attitude, even back in college. Last year the Bengals were a damn good team, and they needed him. And all he did was bitch about the carries he was getting. Terrel Owens bitch more about his team not using him in the key situations. You never found him bitching when they won, only when they lost.

TO was a problem in SF even when they were winning....I can remember reading stories a few years ago about how Mariucci was gonna leave because Owens was such a malcontent...and that was when they wre winning the division, which is the most success they had when TO was there....its not as if TO has ever won anything more in the NFL...

I'm in shock that we made this deal. I never would have expected it. The only reason I know he won't be come a problem is because A) he has noone to steal carries from him [IMG] he will only be making something like 1.4 mil next season so he could be cut or givin away with out even feeling the cap hit. I think he'll understand that belichick wont take his shit and if need be he'll treat him just like Terry Glenn and end his season. I'm happy because this obviously means the Pats weren't to high on Jackson/Jones or any of the top backs in the draft and I trust there ability to judge talant. I'm sure we will still take a back in the later rounds and who knows maybe we'll still find a stuc there.

I guess they wanted to get his cap number structured and keep it feasible before his contract ran out.

i thought he restructered his deal to make it cap friendly, besides he will still cut him at end of season after i think it is may 1st to split any bonus up so it has to be somewhat cap friendly

And that right there is the type of pressure on a player like him we need.

I give a slight edge to the Bengals in this deal. Simply because, Dillon has an attitiude that IMO doesn't mesh w/ the team philosophy the Pats are so good with. Though, the advantage could very easily swing.

Antowain was more psychologically compatible but nowhere near talent wise.

The thing that surprised me was NE acquired a player w/ colorful rep. Though, something tells me players w/ attitudes are the rulerather than the exception even in the NFL.

Dillon goes from being the 2nd best TB in the AFC north to 2nd best in the east after Curtis Martin, of course.

Considering that the patroits have 7 picks in 4 rounds
i think corey dillion is a hell of a upgrade over antwane
smith. Patroits have improved in the run game and with
all them picks in the draft they can afford a guarentee
player for one of the second rounders.

Ps. blackadder, if i was corey dillion i would have a attitude
playing in cincy all them years lol.
