The court has overturned an earlier ruling stating that they were eligible. The court ruled that the NFL had enough to prove its case so the earlier ruling was overturned. In order for either of these players to get in it would be by supplemental draft. I would appreciate if anyone could give me an idea on what order the teams would draft in the supplemental draft if it were to happen. I am imagining if williams were in a supplemental draft that someone would use their 1st on him(whoever had the first pick in the supplemental draft) since he is a top 10 selection now. If it goes in same order of NFL draft coming this saturday, san diego could end up in prime position. THey could take Manning, and then if and when supplemental draft came they could take williams, and use next years number 1, if he had stayed another year he may very well of been the first pick in next years draft. San Diego, would then have manning(eli),Tomlinson, and williams as there triplets a potentially dominant combination.
I still think San Diego will make some type of move with the first pick. They are willing to trade the #1 pick overall for any team's first & second round pick. I wish the Steelers would bite the bullet and give them our first & second so we could draft Manning.
In the words of Lee Corso..."Not so fast my friend"....the Supreme cCourt has decided to hear this case BEFORE saturday....wow. thats unexpected, and there is potential for them to order a stay of the stay that tossed Clarett and Williams out...so maybe they will be in the draft....
i laugh at clarrett, what a idiot, now he probly cant play unless he transfers after burning bridges with OSU, can williams still play bexcaues he hired a agent and isnt there rules that once u get a agent u forfit ur right to play NCAA?
there is a small chance mike williams can go back. Even miles brand did not rule out the possibily that he could still become eligible for one more year.
Clarett wont play AFL, he has no position in that league, no one runs the ball and all the RBs also play LB
clarett could play receiver in AFL, if he was sucessful it way raise his stock because of unique pass catching ability, but probably not worth risk of getting hurt
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (The Return of the Raider)</div><div class='quotemain'>Clarrett can still play in other pro leagues, can he not? What about the AFL?</div> That's basically another reason why I side with the NFL on this thing. Clarett can play professional football, so its not like he being kept from making a living in his trade. Sure it isn't the ideal, but is a possibility. I can't believe how much press Clarett gets over this. He is projected as a late 2nd round at best, but probably a 3rd or 4th. I know he started all this, but I think it affects Williams much more. He was closer to a 3rd or 4th overall pick, not round. I hope he gets back to college even though he hired an agent. He did so on the basis of a court ruling. If the court can change their mind, he should be able to also.
he(williams) is suing league, stating that they sent him confilicting messages about his ability to enter the draft.
It's all going to be thrown out. The NFL as an entity is too powerful and will do these things at their own pace.
Heres the thing. Mike williams knew of the conseqences of entering the draft, when the league was appealing the courts decisions. He knew the rules at college if you hire a agent you are not able to return to school. He took a chance and was burned by it. Its the price you pay and im honestly glad that clarrett and williams are not in the draft. Why should they be any diffrent then the others who payed there dues and followed the nfl rules before them. Clarrett sounds more like he is worried of a payday then anything.
