Theres no question in my mind who the real MVP is the last 2 years....Pat Tillman was everything you could want in a football player, and more importanly, everything you could want in a countryman....some people would say giving up $4mil dollars to enlist in the Army was stupid, but I think its was one of the bravest acts of sacrifice imaginable...On a day like today, Eli Manning and Maurice Clarrett should take a look in the mirror and realize that what they are fighting for doesnt really matter....Pat Tillman was a real life hero, and he will be missed....I hope ESPN does a fitting tribute to him on tommorows broadcast....
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (LSUpackfan)</div><div class='quotemain'>RIP Pat. Thanks for your sacrifices.</div> Ditto, Matt. I just read this on CNNSI.com and was stunned & saddened. Here is one athlete who we all can honestly say had great perspective and his priorties in order.
It's sad and terrible to have lost such a Patriot of this country. Being compelled to give up the money to protect the freedoms that we take for granted on a daily basis, is a huge sacrifice. My condollences to his family and our country for this great loss.

I hope espn as well does something for tillman a tribute, if they dont you know they will in week 1 of the nfl season on countdown. We need more people like tillman in sports and in life. A real american with heart and passion for what he beleived in... our freedom.
well i just heard about it... what a sacrifice, not many people would turn 3.5 million dollars to go to iraq... well, hes definitely done something that barely anybody does w/o a doubt, i salute him
Pat Tillman grew up about 10 miles from where I live. He's a legend around here, and it really hit me when I heard that he died yesterday and caused me put everything in my own life into perspective. This was one special individual, and we need more people like him in every profession. In my lifetime, I can't remember seeing that level of sacrifice within anyone. Bravery, courage, consummate teammate. These words can never be thrown around lightly anymore, not after what this guy did in his life. RIP Pat.
i heard the news last night and was stunned, i guess football players are real normal people and i wish the rest of them realize that any of them could die at any time, not just in war but anywere there is no superman, just super people
Who says athletes aren't role models? I can't think of a better one than Pat Tillman. May God be with his family during these days.
A student columnist at the University of Massachusetts wrote an unflattering piece about former NFL safety Pat Tillman, killed fighting in Afghanistan last week. Likened Tillman to a real-life "Rambo," writing, "It wasn't like he was defending the East Coast from an invasion of a foreign power." I am happy to say that the University president struck back, calling the piece, "disgusting, arrogant and intellectually immature." Since Zack is missing, I will step in for him and say hey, that's his opinion, and one of the things we fight for is to defend our free speech. There is no addendum saying free speech is cool as long as everyone agrees or it's not ignorant .... But still....come on. While there are plenty of regular people that deserve to be honored like Tillman is, there are many people less-honorable that you could rip apart besides him.
