I agree that Kobe is going to play his way into MVP consideration, but a bad start for a team with arguably the 2 best players is inexplicable. Kobe has been amazing lately, but Garnett has done this the entire year. I see MVP as the Most Valuable Player to his team. To me, Garnett is this. The other 2 candidates right now are T-Mac and Kidd. Kobe is number 4 because his team isn't even in the playoffs yet, and he has Shaw helping him.

The bad start was without Shaq...ya know the stretch of games when Kobe was seemingly putting up triple doubles on a nightly basis and his role players were stinking up the gym? I agree though, KG doing it himself will get him more consideration than Kobe...but like I said earlier, I just think KG is in the perfect situation for a player like him...

Would you rather have one superstar on your team or 4 stars?

I would rather have 4 stars 4 sho.

KG has Hudson Wally and Nesterovic,Kidd has Jefferson,Kittles,Mutombo,K Mart,T Mac has Mike Miller(Grant when healthy) Garrity,Amstrong

    Kobe has Shaq.....only Shaq

Fish can't play defense,Fox is the player who is missing most open jumpers in the whole league,Samaki is good sometimes........mostly not.

But I agree with you,all of them 4 deserves that MBVP award, you only forgot bout Duncan

The thing, LABballFan, about Shaq is that on any given night he can outplay whole TEAMS...look at the Finals last year...he totally DOMINATED and OUTPLAYED the entire Nets squad...Nesterovic, Billups, Wally, etc. don't nearly make up as good a supporting cast as Shaq alone creates...he just opens up so many things for so many people as the most dominating force in basketball...I know you're actually on my side of the argument but I just disagreed with that point...

Great points, sunsfan. And LaBballFan, I agree with you on Duncan. He definitely deserves to be in the running.

My list thus far (in order)
    Garnett
T-Mac (but only if Magic make playoffs)
    Kidd
    Duncan
Kobe (but only if Lakers continue their great run)

Every one of these 5 has the big chance to be MVP

hey yall. IM new round hea but i loves da hoops i dont care what team. ma names OlSkoolFunktitude cuz das what i bring everwhere i go but yall can just call me "Funky". any idea where i can get one o dem perty pictures unda my name?

anyway in terms of mvp. All ya have to do to realize kobe is no mvp is look not at his numbers but at the teams record without their real mvp shaq. kobe was still puttin up big numbers but he dont have what it takes to lead a team. hes a sho bode player. a performer kinda like pete marovich. hell always put up big numbers but he no mvp. and even kobes numbers benefit from shaq. anyone who can pass to a guy like shaq has no excuse NOT to get 6 or 7 assists a game hell u huck the ball in his general direction and its two points. also kobe gets more freedom than any other star in the nba cuz the defense is always so focused on shaqq that kobe doesnt really get double teamed so he just runs free and scores at will. compare that to a guy like paul pierce who never ISNT double or trippple teamed and gets mugged on the way to the basket every time. or better yet iverson. hes the only guy on his team the d has to worry about and he and pierce are both pputting up numbers comparable to kobe. the real test will be when shaq is gone. its pretty silly to call him the best overall player in the game right now especially with kevin garnett in the league. And they are no lock for the playoffs yet by any means. Minnesota, Utah, Houston, all the lower seeded teams have an ecxellent chance of fending of the lakers for another couple months.

The real MVP still has to be Jason Kidd. HOW can u pick against him. without him the nets are close to a last place team. he just makes averyone around him soooooooooooo much better. also probably getting votes will be shaq garnett Mcgrady and pierce. those are the guys whos teams would be in the most trouble without them and that i think is what constitutes the MVP not a flashy show and some big numbers.

    MVP so far=Kevin Garnett

He is leading his team with almost no help at all. Scores,Rebounds,Assists, he does it all. If he can finally lead the t wolves past the first round he should be the MVP for sho.

The only way Tracy McGrady can win th eMVP award is too get the Magic in the playoffs and at least to the 2nd round. Which will be hard without G Hill.

Too bad the MVP voting occurs BEFORE the playoffs so if he does get the Wolves past the first round it wouldn't matter. Same with McGrady.

If kobe shouldn't get considered because his team isn't in the playoffs seeding then why should mcgrady more so? i think people favour t-mac..and say kobe shouldn't get it becasue his team is only 9th but mcgrady magic aren't doing that good either.Don't mean opinions on here but some ISH users do.

    mvp

Shawn Marion. the matrix is putting up the same numbers as last season. but without him the suns would be below .500, he wont get it this year , but hes tops on my list for the next 1-3 years

Marion was out a couple of games this season so far and the suns still one. I think Stoudemire is more important to the suns success then Marion.

Marion has only missed one game...that would not hurt him at all...either way I don't think he has a chance...it anything the media would vote in Marbury for MVP if a Suns was to be nominated because of the whole trade with JKidd and the criticism he took only to rise up the next year and lead the Suns to the playoffs...also because of the simple fact that he really is the emotional leader on the team, a nice responsibility for him to takeover...

Marion has had a good season, but when you are talking about MVP, you have to put guys like T-Mac and KG ahead of him, not only because they are having career seasons, but because they basically make their team what it is.

Kobe Bryant, hes carrying his team. You might say "oh but what about shaq" but even when he's playing or injured kobe has scored 40+

K.G would be another mvp candidate
