If kobe averaged 35 pts 7 rebs and 5 ast and If T-mac averaged 35 pts 7 rebs and 5 asts who would you say is the better player?
if they both averaged those then you can't really tell..but mcgrady does not average those.Kobe is the closest and is the better player.28,7 and 6 is bryant numbers...damn good
If they both averaged the same then i have no idea..both great players and the future of the NBA.Both t-mac and kobe are two of my favourites..so it would be a toss up if they both averaged those numbers.
If they have identical stats, then you have to look at which player is winning more and dominating games. Right now I say they are both having great seasons and are carrying their teams to wins. They are both phenomenal players. I'm a Laker fan so of course I would take Kobe over T-Mac. Both are great off-the-court as well.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting "ThE_eDgE":</div><div class="quote_post">McGrady doesn't have a 7 foot 300 pound superstar center playing on his team. He'd be better.</div> Can you imagin how good or what great stats Kobe would have done if Shaq werent on his team and the whole team were just setup to support Kobe? No. So you have an invalid argument. But Kobe would still be the best. To stay on the topic: I would choose Kobe, cause he isnt that selfish like T-Mac on the court and Kobe has the stronger personality, probably also the better go to guy mentality.
1 thing I know for sure: All T Mac fas will try to use that Shaq excuse and all Kobe fans will use stats excuse. Ok as a Kobe fan I am going to use stats excusue too Kobe has better stats and he is more clutch,he is prolly better defender, and he is better all around player. I know that it's easy to play around Shaq but is it easy to have better stats that Shaq? T Mac isn't that good. Kobe is better against most defenders. Remember my bet with PacersRule? He said if T Mac scored only 13 points on Harrington Kobe won't score more then 20...he scored 37  Like AllNet said Kobe is closet to these numbers and he is better in every stat category. You are all saying that Kobe was bad without Shaq? He wasn't bad,he was preety good,he had some triple doubles, many 40+ games and he was great but when Shaq is not there who is 2nd option?
Kobe had about 4 triple doubles without shaq..2 more since. While mcgrady hasn't had one this season and he had a better supporting cast than kobe. And without shaq lakers 2nd option at the time at the start of the season was Derek Fisher and Stanislav Medvedenko thats how bad it was. So it was really impressive to see him get well over 10 assists with those bunch of role players which weren't playing very well and having fisher as your 2nd option..tells the story how much work he had to do. So afterall kobe is better..
tmac is a kobe minus shaq. you gotta give props to tmac for carrying his team to the playoffs. but you also have to give kobe props for his championships. if tmac was in the same situation as kobe (ie played under phil jackson, was on the lakers), he'd have what kobe has today... and vice versa, kobe would've carried a team like the magic into the playoffs.
Whoever said Tmac is not that good of a player... I hope you were kidding man. If you say an average of 30.4 / 6.5 / 4.9 is not that good you must be crazy! How did the Lakers do when they were without Shaq? Pretty crappy. How is Orland doing right now with Tmac as their only option pretty much? 24-26, a little below .500. I would like to see how Kobe does if he's in a crappy team with an average or crappy coach like Tmac is right now. I mean come on, Kobe is being coached by Phil Jackson, one of the best coaches right now. He has Shaq, a proven superstar that's still going strong. If he does not have the stats that he does right now, he just sucks. Imagine putting in TMac in Kobe's place, the Lakers will do MUCH better I guarantee you that. Anyways, with that note, I'm going to say that Tmac is better than Kobe. Easily.

Tmac is good and so i Kobe. Tmac is the greatest i think and i dont care what you think. You could show me facts to show me that tmac isnt the greatest. I dont care. I like him.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Maybe you should read my post as i give good reasons why.Fisher as your 2nd option what else can you do...</div> I did read your post, I am restating it. Calm down. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Kobe in orlando would have better stats than he did when shaq was out..maybe 30,9 and 6..remember kobe plays in the west mcgrady in the weak east.I doubt mcgrady would do any better than kobe wouls with shaq as his team-mate.</div> I am aware that Kobe's in the West and TMac's in the East. Kobe did get better stats but can he do it every game? Day in and day out? Tmac has to carry a whole team by himself the whole season. That exhausting. Tmac also got hurt way more than Kobe. Part of the reason is because the team have to rely on him on basically every critical play in a game whereas Lakers does not have to rely on Kobe every single time. Shaq's there. What about coaching? Why did you discount Phil Jackson out of your reply? Obviously, Kobe is getting better coaching than Tmac is and if Tmac does have PJ as his coach, I guarantee you he will do much better. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Saying mcgrady is better than kobe easily might well be the dumbest thing i've ever heard.</div> Here's a spoon. I agree that Shaq has made Kobe better but I'm not so sure about Kobe making Shaq better. To say that Shaq became more of a dominating force when he came to the Lakers would be a fair assesment, but I think it has more to do with Shaq getting older and gaining more experience, not because of Kobe. What I'm about to say is a stretch but I think it might have some validity. Back in the day everone thought that the Duo of Shaq and Penny Hardaway were going to dominate for years to come. Eventually the two parted ways, and have followed different paths. Shaq became the most dominant center in the league while Penny's play quickly declined, some was due to injury but I think a lot of it had to do with not having a Shaq to play with. I'm not sayin that Anfernee and Kobe are/were on the same level. Obviously Kobe has more talent, but I do think that without Shaq, Kobe would not be considered the best player in the league.
