O'Neal says he is intrigued by Spurs LAST UPDATE: 2/9/2003 4:14:59 AM Posted By: Spurs News Editor According to reports from All-Star media day in Atlanta, Jermaine O’Neal was questioned about his plans for this summer- when the Indiana Pacers' All-Star forward will become a free agent. According to an article from RealGM.Com one reporter asked O'neal about the possibilities of playing in San Antonio next year. O’Neal approached the question carefully, but allowed that he really liked coach Greg Popovich, Tim Duncan, and the entire Spurs team as a whole. When asked if it was safe to assume that there is mutual interest between himself and the Spurs, O’Neal reportedly hesitated, then relented by saying that there was mutual interest. With penalties for meddling with a player under contract ranging from a $10,000 fine to forfeiture of draft choices, the Spurs would never publically or officialy comment about interest in another team's player while under contract. If accurate, O'Neal's comments could carry repercussions. It is not uncommon for the NBA to issue warnings to players about such proclamations during the All-Star break. --spursreport.com
Good post, would be good to see him in San Antonio if Tim decides to leave or whatever. But I say keep Tim since he is a better player.
