    From www.lakersground.net

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I just now heard on kfan that the Lakers and Hawks are very close to making a deal.
The Lakers have offered Robert Horry, Tracy Murray, Kareem Rush, Slava Medavenko and a #1 in 2003 for Theo Ratliff and Jason Terry.

They said "this has been in the works for over two weeks with Atlanta wanting George instead of Horry. The Lakers offered the draft choice to keep George and that will probably be enough for this deal to happen.

    Deal is on the table.

They also reported if the lakers had to include George in the Hawks deal, they had another deal with Indiana that would have sent Ron Mercer to LAL land for Fisher and filler.

You guys may be very happy very soon. Scary for the rest of the league tho. Ratliff and O'Neal?

The deal works on REALGM as well. What do you folks think? Also, if you don't know KFAN is located in Minnesota.</div>

it's all good man that trade is great,I heard it will happen soon but with this trade my favorite Laker is gone..............

Wow, that would be an amazing lineup.

    Terry
    Kobe
    Fox
    Ratliff
    Shaq

That may make them the best in my mind again.

Looks Good..but why do they want Horry? when they can get a young athletic Samaki Walker or even Mark Madsen! Horry compliments the lakers more than he will the Hawks.
And I thought Kareem Rush was gonna be something, but it looks like he won't be able to do much in the West with all the big guys. Better off heading East.

horry is probably attractive because he's on the end of his contract.

i hope rush doesn't get traded. he jsut needs a solid 2-3 years under his belt, then i'm sure he'll become effective, like devean george.

I would love for this deal to go down ASAP! Hopefully we can dish Fisher instead of Rush or George though.

Terry & Ratliff are exactly what we need.

i would love to see jason terry in LA...

he is an outstanding point guard with an amazing shooting touch / scoring ability and he has really improved his ability to distribute the ball during this past season...and anything is better then fisher...

ratliff...uhh im not so sure about this one...while he is a great interior defender and shot blocker and it would be nice to see shaq get a lil help in this area...starting ratliff at the PF poses MANY problems that i could see...

especially with the loss of horry...horry has proven time and time again that he is able to slow down some of the best PF's in the game...players like duncan / webber...these guys are gonna get their 25 no matter what...the key is if you can hold them to this while at least taking them somewhat out of their game...horry is usually able to do this...

Ratliff may be better at holding duncan and webber off in the post...but the great PF's in the western conference today are able to take it outside as well...some of whom (sheed) can torch you from 3 point range prolly even worse then they can torch you on the blocks...murray and slava are just filler....atlanta doesnt care about them...horry will come off the bench for them and give them a nice vet at the forward position...but i agree he is of much more use to the lakers then he is to the hawks...

i would rather see terry and abdur rahim come over to the lakers but we all know that would cost way more then they are worth =P im not sure how this trade would turn out if it goes through...yes the lakers would address the need for a young athletic and extremely quick point guard in terry...but the trade off is we lose our best on ball defender at the PF position who has the versatility to guard both on the perimeter and in the post...so instead of being torched by bibby or parker...we're gonna have concerns about duncan and webber...but we'll see...terry would be a beautiful third scorer...

and on the note about kareem: kareem is going to be something...he's a very smooth player who impressed me during his rookie campaign through his maturity...he accepted what his role was going to be on the laker team...while most rookies come out tryin to strut their stuff for the coaches and the fans so that they can lobby for more playing time based one highlights and popularity...kareem tried to learn how to play within the triangle offense (which is not an easy thing to do) and never tried to do too much...through this he earned the respect of PJ (which is not easy to do as a rookie either) and got his time out on the court...an extremely talented player with the right team first mentality and a great shooter...he'll help someone somewhere...just there's no place for him backing up the best shooting guard active in the NBA right now =T

That trade would be great for the lakers. And maybe atlanta would benefit too because they would get rid of one of there scores and still have 2 left.

UPDATE FROM THE ESPN MESSAGE BOARD ABOUT THE DEAL
I am paraphrasing from the broadcast...

Reports from sources in the Atlanta Hawks organization are saying any deal with the Los Angeles Lakers involving Theo Ratliff and Jason Terry is now about 90% unlikely to happen. Lakers could have made the deal as early as Friday but were not been happy at giving up Rush and now feel the Hawks are squeezing them now that Shaquille O'Neal is injured.

"Talks have all but broke down..Lakers don't want Nazar Mohammad and SAR and Terry will not work."

In a seperate report. The Hawks are now reportedly talking with Dallas involving Nick Van Exel and Raeef LaFrantz to Atlanta for any combo of Jason Terry and SAR or Theo Ratliff....

The Cubanator may have shot you guys down....should have moved quicker..

From an earlier post, Phil Jackson was mentioned saying that there was a 10% chance of a trade being made. Well, this deal has a 90% chance of not happening according the the report so there you go.

I would rather have Terry than Rush. I don't understand why the Lakers haven't jumped all over this deal. I'm sure we could get Terry and SAR for those 4 guys.
