Do you think Gary will stay with Karl at the end of the season or do you think he'll explore the market?
i am willing to bet that he will test the market. Hell if he wants alot of money he could go to denver, they will be desperate. I think he goes to the team with the best chance of winning next year
that would be cool and all. but if a team trades me and says they are trying to get younger. I am not going back for all the money in the world (for all the money in the world i would actually go back, just trying to prove a point) I still cant belive they traded him. he lead them to the Championship game. and then they all of a sudden forget that. Plus they lost Desmond Mason
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting "deestillballin":</div><div class="quote_post">It would be funny as hell if he signed back with the Sonics ROFL</div> my friend who is a sonics fan said payton is one of those guys who you can't understand. he thinks that he's just faking his not wanting to go back to seattle and that he'll sign back in seattle and be backcourt mates with allen. it'd be hilarious
They would have to resign both. That could be tough seeing how both would probably want alot of money. And how much longer can gary play. Its not like he is MJ or anything
Ray Allen has a two year contract, imagine Gary come back next year to Seattle and with Allen and Shard (and whoever they draft) make the playoffs. Won't happen though. He'll sign w/ the Bucks or test the market.
I saw an interview with Payton, and he said at this point all he wants is a ring. He said he got his payday already and has more money than he knows what to do with. He will definately test the market next year. He will watch closely what happens with J-Kidd. If Kidd doesn't sign with the Spurs, you might see Payton go there. Also if he wants to win, why not go to the Lakers. The situation in Golden State could also get interesting. If Arenas leaves, Payton might want to return the Bay Area and play for the Warriors. I doubt he returns to Seattle. They didn't extend his contract and he has always had beef with the owners.
I could see Payton in a Nets jersey if Kidd leaves. Lakers and Spurs are options too. I don't see him at Golden State b/c they are too young to make a championship run. Orlando, Indiana, Detroit, and Boston are also options in the east.
Payton doesnt want the money, I see him going to the Lakers. he will have to take a backseat role to Shaq and Kobe but he will get a ring.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting "Big D":</div><div class="quote_post">If he goes to the Lakers, I'll lose respect for him.</div> Why would that be the case? He has already proven himself. Now he wants a ring. Most of the veterans want a ring so they will go to a team that can get them a ring.
Just remember, Derek Fisher makes about 3 million bucks. If he goes to the Lakers, I'd imagine a sign n' trade happening.

A lot of people will feel weird with Payton out of Seattle.
I wouldn't be surprised if he went back to Seattle, it probly was a set up lol. PG- Payton SG- Allen SF- Barry PF- Lewis C- Drobjnak Some of u say people r out of position but they could play those positions, it'd work.
I don't like good players who go to an already great team. It kills competition. The reason the NFL has such a great year was parity. I respect players who go to average teams and make them great, a la Jason Kidd. It's like the guys in baseball who say they won't be traded, unless it's too the Yankees. It's disappointing to hear.

You got the lineup wrong though PG - Payton SG - Allen SF - Lewis PF - Radmanovic C - Drobjnak or Campbell 6th - Barry

The Lakers would have to deal him to make him happy and to save money if they want Payton or Payton wants them.

Sure it will competition but Payton is determined to get a ring.
