Payton has stated he will NOT re-sign with sonics in the off season.Bucks are confident he will return with them.
I think he's cool enough to do it the right way. Even going to SA would be better because they haven't proven they can win it with their current roster. Payton seems to have enough pride to go somewhere he would help to get the title, not just ride the coat tails to a ring.
Payton can state all he wants, but remember, he is one of those guys who you don't know what he's thinking or what he'll do. The Sonics said Mason was part of their future and won't trade him, then they traded him. People lie.
His agent told the press...that payton doesn't want to return because of the managment..he won't ever return to Seattle to play NBA basketball.
people say they won't do things and they do it. his agent was just telling the press what payton said, but its up to payton in the end, and you don't know what he'll do. i find it hard to believe myself, but you neevr know really.
But if a player hates the sonics management and had some bad words right after they traded him it seems clear he isn't going to return.
it could all be set up, you and i don't know that. all i'm saying is that its possible, but i highly doubt that myself.
I think payton is going to sign with another team. I think he would sign with someone who can has a chance to win a Championship or something or the playoffs.
Its either he resigns with the Bucks, goes to the Spurs if Kidd doesn't go there, goes to the Nets if Kidd leaves, or somehow gets on the Lakers.

If your talking juwan howard, that wont happen. I know it is a dream lineup. but i dont see how phil keeps all those guys happy at once. plus the money involved. Like someone else said, payton wont go to SEA. In the Morning paper, There was an article about him critizing the owner. they wouln't want him back.
