I scrolled down on the first page of the NBA Board, and I didn't see a Kobe vs. T-MAC thread. I was amazed, an NBA board without a Kobe/McGrady thread is like a burger without meat.

Kobe is on a roll lately, and leads McGrady in every category except points per game, where Tracy leads by 0.5ppg.

Who do you think is better, and WHY?

    I say Kobe, because...
    1) He has won 3 titles
    2) He's a great leader
    3) One of the best clutch players in the league
    4) He has shown he can score 40 when he pleases
    5) He is the total package
    6) I'm a Lakers fan

Kobe is the best player in the league. He is so freaking dominant it isn't funny. McGrady is as dominant but he doesn't explode out there as much as Kobe does. McGrady may be better one day, but he isn't yet.

I say T-MAC isn't a leader but a team player. He looks to involve the whole team and not just go for himself. He doesn't miss as many shots as Kobe nor does his coach complain about it. Kobe takes some "what the hell" shots and it frustrates me. I don't hate him nor do I like T-MAC just if they were to play against each other, I'm goin for T-MAC.

P.S. Plus, T-MAC knows how to play defense and got the better deal with Adidas on his shoe contract and them new royal/silver T-MAC 2's r hot. And NJN, T-MAC doesn't explode like Kobe becuz he plays WITH THE TEAM, he's not the team.

They are both damn good players..but kobe is better has the stats to prove it. and the triple doubles (6) thats where you can tell who is a better allround player.Just glad mcgrady has stop moaning about his team-mates and since after that they are playing better..and the trade had alot to do with them beating nets. Both very good and the future of the NBA.

As for the comment about kobe taking wild shots well he had to....with shaq out kobe hasn't got good role players..the magic do so he has to do more and take some shots which are really hard. While mcgrady has better supporting players to pass too...

McGrady had a great game today, it looks like he wants the attention to be shifted to him, now that Kobe is getting all of it.

    McGrady

    1. better scorer though not as "explosive" meaning streaky
    2. better defense
    3. doesnt have shaq to hide behind
    4. is the leader of his team
    5. is his whole team

Doesn't have Shaq to hide behind? I wouldn't say that Kobe was exactly hiding behind Shaq when he averaged 44ppg in his absence.

The Lakers are 9-2 in his streak, no one on the Lakers or in LA are complaining.

they might should. as amazing as his numbers were he cost them a couple of games. and dont decieve yourself into thinking that because of this hes the head honcho. the fate of the lakers rests entirley on shaq. its his team and he makes them win and when hes out any win they get is considered a real accomplishment. u could pretty much substitute any star in the league for kobe and the lakers would still win or lose just as much. kobe has yet to prove HIMSELF to be a winner and capable of leading a team to victory

He proved he was a winner when the Lakers beat Utah and Houston.

He kills people when Shaq doesn't play, Kobe is an assassin. Don't give me the "He needs Shaq" nonsense.

And the Lakers don't exactly have McGrady's supporting cast.

When Kobe is in his slump? Kobe won't be "slumping" any time soon. At least not for any longer than 1 game.

Dont give me that "he doesnt need shaq" nonesense. what the hell does winning two games prove?? y'know the cavs won a couple of games this year to. ricky davis is a real winner. i dont see how u can credit their success to kobe MORE than shaq. you really think hes the difference maker and not shaq? than explain the lakers record in games without shaq.. a fluke??? most people think that the few games they win without him are a fluke. kobe is a proven stat stuffer. but a proven winner? hardly.

He will slump, he just has to play someone with talent. He scored 51 points against Denver... wow . I am sure T-Mac can do that too. He scores 52 against Cuttino Mobley is double OT. now i like mobley but he cant guard kobe, T-mac, Vince, any SG. Most of those games without Shaq. so he is the only left to actually put up points. When he plays someone that knows how to play defense his streak will end.

agreed. and the streak probably should have endeed by now. the way kobe handles the ball now and puts up shots its obvious the streak is very much on his mind. hes very concerned with his stats and wants to keep his streak oging. not exactly something you want your "star player" to be focused on when hes supopsoed to be trying to help the team win

im not going to even argue on this thread...

i saw more then one person state T-Mac was a better player then Kobe and listed the fact that "T-Mac is more of a team player" and "T-Mac has superior defense to Kobe"...

I will only make a few remarks:

During the stretch when Shaq had first come back...Kobe put together a string of triple doubles...he was through a 12 game stretch i believe averaging in double figure assists...at that point in time...i can only imagine that you people were saying "oh see T-Mac is superior because he is scoring more"...

now that Kobe is scoring more then T-Mac...he is inferior for not playing the 'all around team game'...i dont see how he could possibly win in your eyes...it just seems like favoritism to me...

the defense of T-Mac vs Kobe...umm anyone who says T-Mac is a better defender then Kobe knows absolutely nothing about basketball...thats all i hafta say about that...

i am a kobe fanatic...and so anything i say is going to seem rather biased so im not even going to try...i know my opinion is biased but on the other hand some of the things you people have said are just plain stupid...

no NBA expert in the league would EVER say that T-Mac is a superior defender to Kobe...that is a joke...and the 'plug any star in for Kobe and they'll still win a championship' is a ridiculous comment as well...plug any 'star' big man in for Shaq and the Lakers would win too...wut's ur point? Kobe and Duncan would still win a championship...
