For those who wonder what right O'Neal has to pass judgment on the selections given his decision to spend the next two summers with his family rather than play internationally, O'Neal said: "I gave them a chance. Make sure my boy (Lakers coach Phil Jackson) goes out (to coach Team USA)." When Jackson was passed over for Philadelphia coach Larry Brown, O'Neal stepped back. Speaking of the 76ers, O'Neal also asked: "And Allen Iverson isn't on the team? Why not?" Bibby, informed of O'Neal's comments before the Kings played Toronto on Friday night, began to respond before deciding against it; he said he might still offer a retort after the game. Other Kings players declined to respond, too. But one wonders how hard Bibby can come back at O'Neal given what Bibby told The Sacramento Bee after his selection three weeks ago: "I don't know why I was picked. I have no idea. I never really thought about playing in the Olympics ... because I never thought I'd be picked." What O'Neal sees in Bibby's situation is probably the same thing USA Basketball sees: He has proved adept at playing successful team ball and isn't a shoot-first guard such as Iverson and Houston's Steve Francis. Jason Kidd, Ray Allen, Tracy McGrady, Tim Duncan and Karl Malone also have been chosen. Kobe Bryant is expected to sign soon. MVP TALK Bryant and Minnesota's Kevin Garnett have offered suggestions about each other being most deserving of being voted league MVP. Orlando's Tracy McGrady is backing Garnett, but another All-Star is coming out in support of Bryant. "Man, he's the MVP," Phoenix's Stephon Marbury said of Bryant. "Nine in a row with 40 (points) or more? C'mon, it's a landslide. He's on a whole 'nother plane right now." In previous years, Jackson has dismissed talk of Bryant for MVP because of O'Neal's tremendous value to the Lakers. But this season, Jackson chooses Bryant over O'Neal. "He has played every night," Jackson said of Bryant. "By virtue of being out there and playing all these games, he has kept us going along this right path." He should rip Bibby. I don't like him, he wasn't successful in Vancouver and then when he starts playing with a good team full of good players everybody starts praising him. That's bull****.

Bibby is a great playmaker and a clutch shooter. i know shaq is untouchable by the leaue so hes allowed to say whatever dumb shit comes to his thick mule-like skull, but he should just shut up already. hes embarrasing himself and the whole laker franchise

I think Bibby is pretty overrated myself. He's definitely clutch though, which can be invaluable. Still, Shaq said he won't play for the team, so he should stay out of the selection process.
Shaq is right, there are so many more deserving players but Iw ould rather see someone like Bibby go then Pierce or any of my other favorite players so they won't get tired or injured for the season.
I neither like Shaq nor do I like Bibby! But Shaq should EDIT up bcuz he ain't nothin' but a EDIT who also profits of the squad around him. If he was with a team that wouldn't only dish the rock to Mr. Baby-Face himself, this fatneck wouldn't be a star player in this league. He can't create shots for himself... and even if he could he would miss them bcuz he has as much shooting touch as Ben Wallace from beyond the arc... I hate Shaq and Bibby! But Shaq musn't talk that much trash bcuz he himself ain't nothin' but trash!!! If Shaq wasn't that tall he would have a scoring average of 1.4ppg. I wonder he would be able to hit a layup!? as much as i hate the kings, bibby is a respectful player in my book. but i think there are better PGs out there.
Maybe what Shaq said is right, but he really needs to shut his mouth. Get a better record first and then start talking.
im not a big fan of shaq but he has won 3 rings so he can say what he wants, plus most of the stuff he says is darn funny
AI should be on the team over Bibby. AI showed in the All Star game he can dish the ball and not force up 20+ shots a night. Shaq talks shit all the time, and most of the time the guy is joking around. I think it's irresponsible of the media to even report shit like this. They are making the rivalry between the Kings and Lakers into a war of words. These reporters need better quality material and stop selling this soap opera crap.
I think Bibby is a solid player. Sure there are better PG's out there but a lot of the quality players in the league are not interested and also it seems that whoever picks the teams tries to get different players for every team and that hurt us last time out. Shaq talks too much but that's because he can. AI continues to get robbed year after year.
just think of shaq as a really really big kid. he's always joking around, and of course he's gonna end up saying something that's not funny. and i agree with shape, the media has a lot to do with exploiting things.
Bibby sucks i don't care what anyone says he jus good cuz he in a team wit lot of talent if he was in a diffent team he'd do shit. I'd take ppl like jason terry or even jason williams of grizzles over him. (not sayin white choclate is bad or bibby but bibby doesn't quite deserve to be in U.S. team.)
