Dolphins: He ain't heavy, he's David Boston

    News
Troublesome wide receiver David Boston has been in Miami for less than two months, but his obsessive commitment to muscle mass and weight lifting is already an issue. Boston missed last week's minicamp with a shin injury believed to be a result of his weight, approximately 240 pounds right now. ''He's heavier than he needs to be,'' coach Dave Wannstedt told the Miami Herald. "He's too muscled up right now, and he doesn't have any fat to lose. It's just a matter of toning down.''

Wanny went on to suggest that Boston will not be handed a starting job opposite Chris Chambers and that his play and effort in offseason camps will determine his role. Obviously, the onus is on the overgrown receiver to find his way back somewhere near the 228-pound mark he played at in Arizona. That, of course, would compromise how good he and his nipple rings look on South Beach. Stay tuned for scenes from the next David Boston soap opera.

I agree...I took him two seasons in a row for fantasy football and he was nothing but a dissappointment. The guy should be dominating...he just has a terrible attitude. At least TO has the desire to win.

When they acquired Junior & Ricky, I was happy but cautiously optimistic. It's early so I will wait and reserve judgment.

The only thing Terrell desires IMO is shoot off his yap and stroke his massive......Ego. At least, DB has let the past go and is not whining about his time w/ Drew Brees.

This doesnt worry me at all....during the offseason, beat writers need things to write about so they blow things out of proportion....Boston went to every minicamp, never denied that hes trying to lose weight, and all Wanny said was that Boston, just like everyone, has to compete for the job....

My take on the "Boston" situation is that he may be on the wrong team. He needs someone to really crack down on him and get his head back into the game. The 240 weight makes him a fast Tight End, not a true receiver. I don't care if it's muscle, steel, or jell-o, he needs to drop some of it. If he continues to do what he wants unchecked, he won't be of any consistant help to the phins this season.
