If he carried the team to the playoffs then he would be respected.

yea but it remains to be seen whether hes capable of that. I highly question his ability to be a real leader and a real number one guy on a team and take them far. he hasnt been able to do anything without shaq

well duh. shaq is the heart and soul of the lakers offense and the anchor of the defense. take him out and of course the team will sputter.

sorry to say it...but i'm with him...there's no indication of Kobe ever leavin...he's too good a player to go elsewhere...I think once Shaq retires that's when we can start the rumor of him leavin L.A.

why is it pointless. were not just idiots fucking around here. other people who know what theyve talking about have sai dthe same thing. It doesnt matter to Kobe if youre a hug lakers fan youve got all sorts of kobe posters in yellow and purple on your wall. It might make sense for Kobe to leave if he thinks he can lead another team to a championship and make a name for himself or make more money. The lakers have money but theyll need an awful lot of it to sign another dominant big man when Shaq retires.

lol, i'm not a huge laker fan, and don't have kobe posters up on the wall, i just find it hard to believe kobe will leave, i guess this thread isn't pointless, it just seemed like it 3 weeks ago :?

Thats my point. they'll sign KG or some other big man. The Lakers won't allow themselves to be without a dominant big man as good a guard as kobe is because theyve never been able to win a championship without one. With KG on the team KObe will again be in somebodys shadow or at least will be established that hes not the number one guy. Kobe will likely go somewhere where he will try to prove that hes cvapable of being the number one man and leading a team to a championship which it is not proven that he can dfo yet

Why will kobe leave? he will be the the man once shaq goes...and a chance at more titles...as LA. will have quite alot of cap room

No...U cant have Kobe as your first option with a Garnett on the team. If he came he would be the man who determined the Lakers level of success because he is the more complete and dominant player...just like Shaq was the sole decider of their level of success even if kobe had a higher scoring average. If they get a dominant big man theyll build around him and kobe will likely be traded for a more well rounded talent

i agree with your 1st half of it, but not about the trading kobe for more rounded talent. no way would the lakers trade kobe, unless kobe was gonna leave(like shaq did to the magic) and they wanted to get something for him.

lakers won't trade kobe....L.A would be better of fgetting two stars from FA and a few soild big man..than a other superstar and having poor role players like they do now.

exactly...by trading kobe, they could get a deeper team. He could be traded for two solid players or three potentially solid young players. It might be the smarter thing to do to win a championship then just praying that your two superstars stay healthy and perform as good as they have to to beat whole teams to a championship
