I was just talking to a friend last week and saying "I wonder why the Packers don't go after Kerry Collins?" I figured he'd be a perfect fit for Green Bay. Well...it looks like I might get my wish. He's visiting Green Bay today and tomorrow.

I'd love to see him in Green and Gold.

Sherry collins siting in wisc, could this be? I know the vikings, bears and lions are licking there chops. Kerry has all the potential with no grip for the ball he is a compulsive fumbler for some reason. 2 years in row in had him in ff and i suffred from it. I think couch would of been the better qb for the packers future. However kerry is a better backup then pederson.

I just don't understand why someone like San Francisco, Miami, or Baltimore hasn't scooped him up. Green Bay doesn't NEED him now, but he would be a nice back up for Favre. I just don't know what teams think... especially the 49ers...

I think I said in the 'phins forum cut Feidler & Sign Collins. Man; The debate that broke out. I am still trying to recover.

Bottom line IMO; Collins is better than Jay.

The Niners have gotten a case of the cheaps all of a sudden. Its like a self imposed penance for the salary cap violoations a few years back.

Collins may not be great, but I think he is one of the top 32 QBs in the league, so I don't understand why he isn't a starter somewhere. You could say it is because of money, but if he is too expensive to start for some teams, he would make for a very expensive backup!

He would be a good fit in GB if Favre were gone or walking out after this season, but there is no indication of that. A 31 year old QB coming off of a multi-million dollar salary does not sound like a good "grooming" opportunity for either party. He may be close to Favre's age now (34...35?) by the time he starts.

If Collins isn't finding a starting position to his liking, I could see him signing a one-year contract with the Pack to backup Favre, but a longer term contract doesn't make much sense.

Hmm....looks like he cancelled the GB trip. Do you suppose he is close to signing with Oakland or someone else?

I think he might be waiting for a while to see if any QBs get hurt during training camps or the Pre-Season. The man wants to start and I don't blame him...

By the way...I don't see Collins as a successor to Favre at all. But the way I see it, the Packers have the talent level in most areas to be a contender for another window of two or three years. If Favre's iron man streak ends, I don't want to see the season flushed down the toilet by trying to win games with Doug Pederson. I'd much rather have Collins or Couch standing behind Favre so the team has a legit shot to win if Brett goes down.

I like Collins and I hope he doesn't go to GB just cause he should start. I still think Denny Green is crazy for not going out and getting a veteran to come out and compete with McKnown. I guy like collins woudln't have to much of a problem lighting it up with boldin, fitz, johnson, and Jones. They also have a pretty good O-line that coudl give collins the time he needs.

Now that I think of it Dennis Erickson is an idiot too for not going after collins, warner or couch. Must be the name Dennis.

Green would never go after Collins if he has faith in McKnown. He likes to show confidence in his players...thus he starts Culpepper in his second year. Offensively I would never question Green. He has too good of a track record to doubt him.

I understand and I know his rep with QB's but I just don't know about Mcknown. I also think competition is healthy for a young guy. You don't want him to get a big head and think hey I'm the man noone can touch me or just get complacent with his work, not that Mcknown is that way cus I wouldn't know but its just an example.

I watched the game he started against the Vikes and Mcknown played alright but he got damn lucky to win that game. There was no way that ball should have been caught but those are the breaks. Maybe it wasn't lucky and maybe it was just a great throw but until he proves he can play that throw will look pretty lucky to me.

I agree that Collins would be a great fit in Arizona. He would make the team instantly better.
