<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">did you see the magic vs pistons series? they triple teamed everytime he touched the ball. and tmac is the best offensive player in the game so of course he gets doubled more.</div> No they didn't and no he doesn't. Don't get how you can say that perimeter player gets doubled more than a post player. It is really harder, and virtually impossible with McGrady's talent, to double a perimeter player because they will do something with the ball before the extra defender comes. Also, he didn't get doubled as much as you are making it sound. Most of his points came off isolation post ups and pull up jumpers and hardly anyone gets triple teamed a whole lot and McGrady isn't an exception. Also post players welcome double teams because they pass out of the double team to the perimeter players. So to keep it simple, McGrady doesn't get doubled nearly as much as Duncan and McGrady RARELY, if ever, gets tripled.
Im sorry I meant every time he penetrated a few piston players would rotate over there to stop him. one time all 5 players were guarding him.
Oh. Well if you meant it that way then it happens to virtually every player who is a threat to take the ball to the hole and score. That's a collapsing defense. Everyone comes down and tries to force the player to kick it out for a lower percentage shot. Happens all the time to a whole bunch of players.
its not out of the question but im not sure what gthe nuggets financial picture looks like but i think theyd be more likely to sign a guard as they have some strong young bigmen

They are different players..but you have a better chance stopping or containing mcgrady than you do duncan
yea, i think timmy's got better offense. just because tmac scores more doesn't mean he's got better offense. timmy could go for 40 every night. his team doesnt need that from him. the magic needs tmac to go for 30 every night.
dont forget tmac is a better passer than timmy too. I really dont see how you can say tim duncan is a better scorer than tracy. you would have to come up with stats, but thats impossible because there is no stat out there that shows tim is a better scorer than tmac.
Actually I think that if we were judging solely on offense it would be too close to call, however; if forced to call it I would have to give the edge to McGrady. Offense is more than scoring and in general great perimeter players can do more offensively than great post players because they are capable of more things. I think people just get caught up in that Timmy D is a rarity of offense in terms of a seven footer being so dominate primarly in the low post so people give him the edge.
i still think timmy's better. he can do anything inside the 3 point arc. he's a part of EVERYTHING on the offensive end. he'll get the offensive rebound, he'll get the assist. even if he doesn't get the assist, he made it happen.
id say having duncan would be a plus rather than a minus, people would have to decide who to gaurd or whot o double and most would pick tim. they would be a lethal duo
