Eddie George is being railroaded out of Tennessee and the owners aren't even talking to him about contract issues.

It's pretty lame to send him packing without at least making a token effort to keep him. The team loves him. The town loves him. He's not asking for much. He wants to finish his career in Tennessee.

    George deserves better, IMHO.

It's the attitude like this that gets teams in cap trouble. George is DONE, I would not pay him much more then the league minimum. The last three years his yards per carry are 3.0 3.4 3.3 respectively. Thats abhorrent numbers. I do not think that he's willing to stay in Tennesee for such low money, it's the respect issue. Thats why this has to happen. It sucks, but thats the NFL life. Look at Emmit Smith and Jerry Rice, they deserved better too.

in fact, jerry put up better numbers in his first 2 season with Oakland, than he did his last 4 seasons in frisco. he was right and SF did make a mistake, emmits and eddies numbers declined, as do most RBs after they have years on them. RB last 7-12 years before declining, WRS last a long time. Rice brown etc.

Eddie George needs a fullback, pure and simple. The only back in history who could be successful in Tennessee's current offense would be Barry Sanders in his prime. No fullback = No running game.

Like I said, he's not asking for big money...

It's always a shame when teams come to the end of contracts with players like Eddie George. I was sad to see Levon Kirkland go a few seasons ago, as when Woodson left, and now Gildon, but this is a business. It's only partially loyalty and emotion. I don't know if George is willing to take the league minimum, I hadn't heard, but if he is then I think it's classless of the Titans organization to not make that offer. Bettis stayed and is making just above league minimum.

After making millions for years, if he really wants to retire a Titan, he'll take the full pay cut.

Eddie george has the keys to his future in tenn. He knows tenn can not afford him, they have asked him to take a paycut. Eddie went and told some of his closest teamates (mcnair etc) he would not take the pay cut to help the titans fix there cap problems for now and the future. Chris brown getting more carrys also has george thinking a new address. Eddie has said he is interested in philly where he grew up. Interesting westbrook and eddie not a bad rb by commitee duel.

Put Eddie in a Broncos uniform... Behind that O-Line, I'm sure he could rack up 1300 - 1500 again.

he would do poorly in denver's system, it is for a certain type of back and he isnt it.

I dont think any rb in denvers system would do poorly. Look at garys, anderson, griffith for example. That offensive line is incredible with the way they run block. I do understand the type of rbs shanahan likes small quick pass catching rbs. Which is why i think tatum bell is gonna make people forget they lost portis. Eddie george may not be a starting rb in the nfl but he could sure fit into what alot of teams are doing today. Rb by commitee role or goaline.
