Actually, it's quite treacherous...but a brilliant business decision nonetheless... The Raiders have named Gannon as their starting QB and are set to make him look like the bad guy when he refuses to take a pay cut and they have to cut him.

    Brilliant... It accomplishes many things:

    1. Puts pressure on Gannon to take the cut if he wants to stay and start.
    2. Gives the Gannon faithful fans less to complain about (it will be his choice)
    3. If he signs for less, they can still give the job to Collins by saying Gannon lost the job in the pre-season.

Man, this is just twisted. Great article on the subject here:

    Man, Al Davis is just...evil.

You know; I NEVER thought I'd hear Al Davis and the words brilliant decision used together.

As a result, I wonder when the world will end? Could it be 'the day after tomorrow'???

I read the article and several others pertaining to the situation. Now, I wonder what Gannon is thinking? I mean I'm sure he sees what Davis is doing. Does he now not take the pay cut? Does he asked to be traded? It was brilliant & devious... and on top of it all, Davis put the ball in Gannon's court. He will be judged by how he reacts.

My prediction is that Gannon will be a cap cut. How cool would it be if he signed with the Giants and unseated Warner as the backup? I'd prefer that he stay, but if the economics are such that he "needs" to leave, I wish him well. Wait, maybe he and Warner can both be on teh Giants roster, and then Phil Simms can call all the games... Now that's irony.
