I'll go ahead and say Uconn will probably be the early number 1 ranked team, but Michigan State will be number 1 for the majority of the year.

UConn and Michigan State will be pre-season favorites but we all know that Duke will pull it out in the end. [IMG] [IMG]

Duke will be top 10 with Kentucky. I don't think they'll quite make the top 5.

That's a good point! I remember before basketball season began last year there was so much hype surrounding Arizona, but where's all the hype now?

Their three team leaders, Anderson, Walton, and Gardner, are all going pro. Igoudala is still a work in progress, and Hassan Adams is good, but he is still a young guy. They will be top 10 on and off, but they need someone to step up and take a leadership role.

BTW - I have agreed with every one of your posts in this thread so far.

The hype with Arizona has drifted a bit since Ndudi Ebi opted for the draft. That really hurt the Wildcats. I still think they are a capable top 5 team though. Salim Stoudamire is ready to take the reigns at PG and lead the team. Hasaan Adams may be young but he has deep tourny experience already and last year was already an integral part of the team. If anything he is ready to step up into a bigger role. Igoudala is going to bust out next year for sure. Spartanfan, what was Channing Frye exposed for? People still think he is a top talent at his position and will have a real good year next year. Mustafa Shakur gives them a boost off the bench. I don't know much about Kirk Walters, another guy 'Zona signed, but from the sounds of it he should be able to make up for what is lost by Rick Anderson. This is still a top five team I think and if by a longshot Ebi decides to come back then they will be one of the most dangerous teams. I don't think it really matters if they are young because Arizona has a knack for getting real good production out of freshmen.

UConn should be the definate number one team next year, but I think Kansas will give them a run for their money. I had Kansas ranked number 4 in the top college teams for next year thread, but the more I look at their team the more I like it.

You are missing my point though. They have no team leader. Salim can't lead a team. Hassan can't lead a team. Ndudi and Mustafa can't lead a team.

If Ebi was at Zona I would really like them (Hassan, Salim, Ebi, Shakur) that but I have to go with UConn. If Villanueva goes there, they are the #1 team. Okafor, Gordon (Ray Allen), and Villanueva is a great trio.

I still think Michigan State will be number 1 for the majority of the season. I expect them to have many wins and very, very few losses, yet I don't think they'll have an undefeated season. I think MSU will have a chance to go undefeated in conference play but they will lose possibly 1 or 2 or 3 games in the pre-season. Either way, I say UConn will take the number 1 sport early on, then Michigan State will get number 1 with UConn at number 2.

With or without Villanueva I also agree Uconn will be #1. Cal Berkley is going to a very good team this year, too.

Yep, my future (hopefully) alma mater (Arizona is up there too) should have a pretty good year. Amit Tamir and Powe will make a real good frontcourt. Ubaka will give a huge boost to the backcourt and Marquis Kately will replace Joe Shipp on the wing. I think they'll be stuck between 15-20 through the year.
