Denver to host 2005 All-Star game...

    Kroenke Sports, which owns the Denver Nuggets and the Colorado Avalanche, spearheaded the bid to bring basketball's showcase event to the Pepsi Center. Denver last hosted the game in 1984.

    Last month, the NBA said Denver would get either the 2005, '06 or '07 game and that a decision would be made during the NBA Finals.

    NBA Commissioner David Stern has said the Pepsi Center, which opened for the 1999-2000 season, would be an ideal site because of Denver's abundance of hotels and proximity to ski areas.

    The league sources spoke Thursday to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

    A spokesman for the Nuggets declined comment; a Kroenke Sports spokesman didn't immediately return a message.

    Denver's selection was first reported Thursday in the Rocky Mountain News and The Denver Post. The newspapers said an announcement was expected next week.

    The 2004 All-Star game will be held in Los Angeles for the first time in 21 years. </div>

    next year is in LA. Why Denver? Might aswell of haven it in the middle of wisconsin.

    i hate Sac-Town....but tha place would be crazy if Webber got it(doubt it...he'll prolly be injured)...hehe this is ma 400 post....

    Thing is it is really big place...so it is suited better..i would love a allstar game in Detroit..or san antonio for that matter...sacramento would be a bad place for an allstar game...also you expect them to cheer for shaq and kobe?

    i think it should come back to chicago. there's tons of hotels and all that fun stuff.

    It will be good for Denver, doesn't the arena that holds it get some percentage or most or all of the ticket prices?

    the all star in la will be one of the best ,cause if your goona hold an all star game where better than la ,there couldnt be a better place ,i think they should hold it in rucker some year, man that would be crazy
